I was in NYC for business and decided to stay here for 1 night. Love the vibe of the hotel. The area is great - I used to live in the East Village so I am very familiar with the area. The staff is friendly and warm and the restaurants were good too. Arrived on a Sunday and the restaurants...

I stayed in this hotel for over 7 days, and had a fantastic experience! Paige from Guest Experience was so accommodating of my needs, and even had hot tea and snacks delivered to the room for my mom who had a cold. The front desk staff was always friendly and welcoming, and the folks manning the door were always conversational...

Stayed for 3 nights over Easter Weekend. Room: Downtown Studio (highest category of room type) Important detail to note: While the description says "most" are on the high floors, there are two of these rooms on the 3rd/4th floor which provide zero view of a skyline. If I remember correctly, one of the front desk managers said there are a...

Arrived early on a Friday and was happily surprised to get into my room. Polite, professional staff. Would be nice is a coffee machine in room or free coffee in lobby. Great bar scene and restaurant off lobby. Always enjoy my visit, East Village, little Italy, soho at your door Step.

I'll start by saying great location. A few downsides- most of the staff are great (some were purely decorative), skip the restaurant- poor service and pretty meh breakie for the price. I'll forgive housekeeping for busting in on our afternoon nap, but they could have exited quicker when I clearly lacked pants. The room was clean and bright, but the...

Perfect hotel for our overnight stay and campus tour of NYU! From the early 11am check-in (which is totally unheard of in NYC), to the gracious and inviting front desk staff, to IAN our superbly accommodating and very helpful bell cap; our stay was wonderful! Special thanks again to Ian for arranging our airport car service and taking great care...

From the moment we arrived at their curb; the people, the place, ........ Perfection. Fantastic staff, wonderful accommodations, and truly an exceptional part of the city. Thank you to all of those at the Standard who added to our enjoyable stay. I don't think it can be done any better!

We stayed here for two nights in March 2017. We had booked a corner King room via the travel agent in Sydney but on arrival they put us in a low room on the sixth floor 604 facing east which had an ordinary view back to the river. No, we couldn’t see the ACTUAL river. But it was better than...

I've been at this hotel a couple of times. the location is very nice, rooms are clean and the bed is awesome. Some rooms are very small. I think everything could be better according to the price. After staying there for more than three times in a year I asked for an early check in and they didn't aloud me...

Staying in East Village

Neighbourhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighbourhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighbourhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located off Cooper Square in one of New York's most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods, The Standard, East Village is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure-very much in the spirit of its surroundings. You enter the 21-story tower through an original tenement-style building before ascending to unparalleled views of Manhattan. There's a quiet, calm garden tucked away at street level, Michelin-starred chef John Fraser's widely acclaimed Narcissa, and the bustling, street-side Café Standard, which hums from morning until late night. ... more   less
