This is my first TripAdvisor review, I rarely spend my time writing them but Peninsula New York made my trip to New York so nice that I want to share it with you. I wasn't sure what hotel to choose. Peninsula is an iconic building that I always wanted to stay in. After reading some reviews I was a little worried booking it but decided to risk it. I made one mistake - I booked a room not directly but used a third party and there was a little hiccup with my reservation that I didn't realize until arriving to the hotel. It was fixed in no time by wonderful Oksana that not only checked me in but actually had met me with a smile outside of the hotel when my taxi pulled up. She walked me to the reception area and personally helped me with check-in (I'm glad she did). The moment we both realized that my reservation wasn't done properly, she assured me that there was nothing to worry about and was able to make all the necessary adjustments. I felt very special when I was walked by her to the elevators. No wonder she was so efficient, she turned out to be a manager of the department. After dinner there was a little surprise waiting for me in my room - brownies and a welcome card from Oksana that she didn't have to but so carefully placed in my room. She also made sure that throughout my stay I had everything I needed. And came out of the office to wish me a goodbye! I had several encounters with amazing Peter and Ryan - the concierges and another wonderful members of the team who helped me with all my dinner reservations and answered all my questions about the city, even the craziest ones. Peter has a great sense of humor that made my day! Concierge team know all the best restaurants New York can offer. Every time I was passing their desk, they smiled and greeted me - made me feel like home. Now, I travel a lot and stay in many hotels to see a genuine desire to help. It is very rare, especially in our new after the pandemic reality. Peninsula top management does a great job in finding these gems - kind, genuine and decent team members. Yes, the hotel rooms need some touch up but I will be back for sure for the Peninsula people!

Hotel's Favourite
I checked in on a Tuesday and stayed through Sunday. The management, doormen, bell, front desk, housekeeping, literally everyone that works at this property are the best of the best. I had a couple of special requests through my work that a normal hotel would not have accommodated. They did so and not only did it, but had it ready to go within an hour. It was amazing. I have stayed at many fine hotels I travel both domestically and internationally, and I believe the Peninsula rates right at the top.

I was in New York City for another business trip and booked the Pen for a few nights! I love the New York charm of this hotel and the attention to detail in terms of service. I always receive a hand written welcome, and everyone addresses me by name providing that special personal touch! This is a home away from home for me! Special shout out to Samir who gives this hotel a welcoming and inviting personality! The scrambled eggs are the best I've had by far - cooked and seasoned perfectly!

I was in NYC for business and wanted to be near Central Park. My stay at this hotel was quite poor. Housekeeping issues: The first room they assigned me didn’t have any shower/bathroom products and the room was not properly cleaned. I also had to specially order an iron and ironing board. The 2nd room I was in had dirty sheets. AC issues: I was in NYC during the start of the warm season and the AC unit in the first room they assigned me wasn’t working. They couldn’t fix it so I had to repack and move to another room. Tech issues: This hotel was likely in its heyday and very advanced for its time back in the 80s? But they decided to stop there. Please see attached pictures. Very dated hotel. No coffee/tea maker in the room. Bad housekeeping, extremely dated interiors, elevators that seem 100+ years old are so narrow you can barely fit 2-3 people. This is a $700/night hotel. I’ve stayed at far better in NYC for far less. Don’t fall for the pretty website/marketing. This hotel is badly in need of a thorough renovation.

My mother, 6 year old daughter, and I stayed for a long weekend and truly loved it. We booked the Family Escape Package. From the moment we checked in, the front desk staff showed kindness toward my daughter and asked her questions to get her excited about her stay. When we got to the room, we were delighted to find a teddy bear with her name on it and a delicious tray of sweets (including a dark chocolate Empire State Building!). We also found a terry robe in our daughter’s size and adorable matching slippers which they encouraged us to take home when we left. Our package included tickets to a nearby attraction and we chose MoMA. The hotel did a great job securing tickets for us. And finally, while this review focused on how great the Family Escape was for our little one, I’d be remiss if I didn’t recommend the Lavender Field cocktail from the Bar at Clement (at the hotel). It’s a wonderful (alcohol) treat the adults in our party enjoyed after a long day of sightseeing!

Wow this is a fabulous hotel. We stayed in three grand luxe rooms ( six of us) and by city standards they were huge. I must mention the Housekeeping staff, they were exceptional, our rooms were beautifully kept, with top ups of bottled water and treats. Breakfast at Clements was great, again fabulous staff always seeming to know what you needed. One of our party is a coeliac and their knowledge of gluten-free was excellent. The Clement bar staff were so friendly and accommodating, knew our drinks after one day. My only small grumble was that we couldn’t get a table in the rooftop bar, even though we were staying at the hotel. It was very busy with the after work crowd. However, this did not take away from the fabulous stay we enjoyed so much.

It didn’t start off at 5 star, but in the end the Peninsula team delivered. I had booked a suite to celebrate my wife’s birthday in NYC. Plus this is our first trip abroad so why not. We got to the hotel at around 4pm but the room was not ready. I also contacted them in advance to let them know that we will be celebrating a birthday. The hotel mentioned they will have a special treat. At checkin we did get an acknowledgement for my wife’s birthday, but that was it. We got to the room and it was a good size suite especially considering NYC. However, we could tell it was rushed to get ready as there were still crumbs and dirt all over the carpet. I did reach out the next morning mentioning the above issues. I had come to expect alot from the Peninsula brand, as my wife and I had our wedding banquet at the Peninsula Hong Kong years ago and everything was perfect. We had also stayed at other luxury branded hotels throughout the years (your typical Four Seasons, Ritz Carlton, Rosewood etc) so we know what level of service we should be getting. What makes a 5 star hotel vs. 4 truly comes down to service, attention to detail, and personal touch. After my email to the concierge, the property manager responded promptly and asked for a chance to make it up to us. And they did deliver!Everything was perfect from there on and became truly a luxury hotel experience. We got back to our suite that night and it was a very pleasant surprise for my wife (balloons, cake, champagne, chocolate dipped strawberries and all). Sure one could argue these aren’t worth alot but it’s the thought and element of surprise that matters. The house car service is a great amenity to get around town. I would definitely recommend and consider the Peninsula again when we visit NYC. Plus the location can’t be beat (and I’m sure they know that too). However, it’s not an automatic “win” for me at this time and I may still consider other alternatives. Overall, a 5 star stay. Would’ve been perfect if I didn’t have to complain about the issues before they were rectified.

We stayed here Thanksgiving week, and everything about the stay was perfect. The staff was professional and helpful, and the concierge was extremely helpful in arranging multiple tours for us. Our children also felt very welcomed, and the General Manager even helped one of them on the hotel's scavenger hunt. Overall, it was a delightful stay and may start a new holiday tradition for us.

Very good central New York hotel, added bonus that it has a nice pool and also a male and female spa with sauna and steam room. I find a lot of NYC hotels lack facilities and so the Peninsula scores additional points for having everything you need. Breakfast is good but was an additional cost, if not expensing I would have probably got breakfast outside. Rooms are spacious and good bathrooms, overall I would definitely recommend if staying with family, couples or on a business trip to NYC.
