Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We spent 4 nights here and loved the cheerful, helpful staff, comfortable beds, and the clean, quiet room—all for a reasonable price in Manhattan. Jamilah (Assistant Front Office Manager) was super friendly at check-in and was able to accommodate our request for a room on a higher floor, where we had phenomenal views of midtown. Complimentary coffee was available every morning in the library-style lounge where you can relax, read or get some work done. The rooftop bar was closed for the season but we were able to go up and check out the expansive views. The neighborhood (NoMad) is safe and the hotel is conveniently located to multiple subway and bus lines. We were able to get around on public transportation all week. We appreciated the relaxed, comfortable vibe at the Arlo.

Amazing experience with super friendly and effective staff. We enjoyed the view a lot and love this small oasis in New York City. We were treated well by all staff and housekeeping. This will be our first choice when we do need to stay in New York again.

I would rate our experience at this hotel 5 out of 5. We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating - nothing was too much for them. All were extremely polite pleasant and willing to offer tips. We were placed in small queen sized bedroom, which included all the necessary facilities. Shower, bed TV. The rooms were beautifully decorated rooms. Staff cleaned the bed rooms and emptied the dustbin every day. Fresh towels were also available. As well as shower gel, shampoo and hair conditioner. Hand cream and complementary bottles of water left in the fridge on first day of arrival. The hotel is within short walking distance to attractions such as the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, the Rockefeller Centre. There is so much to see and do in this great city and the hotel is in the centre of this. I would definitely recommend this hotel . There are lots of local cafes and restaurants too. The hotel also has a roof top bar - where you can sit to take in the sites of this beautiful city. We both had a lovely mini break in New York. I would recommend going for at least a week as there is so much to do. Also buying sightseeing tickets in advance of your visit to New York would be ideal.

Really welcoming on arrival. As per previous reviews, room was small but we didn’t come to spend too much time in there anyway. It was immaculate and functional with a very comfy bed and a terrific view of the ESB. Coffee was available (every morning) free of charge in a lovely library area. Take the lift to the top and step out into a breathtaking view. Unbelievable bonus! All the staff were lovely but big shout out to Anthony at check out. Explained things and was so genuinely interested. Hotel is central to everything and we would definitely recommend.

The best New York experience. Stunning views. STUNNING. Like maybe-we-should-just-sit-at-the-window-for-hours gorgeous. Saw the whole Empire State Building from bed, lit up for Lunar New Year. The people are also incredibly nice. More than 5 people in the hotel went above and beyond to make my sister and I feel welcome. It was fun to mingle in the lounge and on the rooftop with the other guests from all over. Everything was clean, crisp, and comfortable. Shower and bed were particularly nice. I found my go-to hotel forever.

I really wanted to love this hotel but came away not being 100% satisfied. Pros + Great location, minutes from Empire State Building and really easy to get anywhere from here. + Staff friendly and helpful, check in was easy. + The rooftop views are amazing. Although the bar is closed up there we could still go up to see the sights on the 31st floor. + Free use of the Citi Bikes with a code from reception. We used them to ride around Central Park, it was an easy process. Cons - Lifts are an absolute nightmare at peak times. After landing from a long flight and finally getting to the hotel we stood waiting in a hot lobby for over 20 minutes. There’s 3 lifts but only 2 in service. One lift only goes to the 8th floor so if you’re any higher you have to wait. Luckily we were on floor 9 so we always got the lift that goes to 8 and walked one flight up to our floor. - The hotel itself is noisy. You can hear everything when in your room from surrounding rooms. Toilet flushes, talking, doors closing. It really is noisy through the night. - The air-con / heating was really noisy too although we switched this off. Also the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t seem to go off ever. - The restaurant is closed for renovation at the minute which we were aware of. There is a little coffee shop in reception with drinks and light snacks which helps because there isn’t tea or coffee facilities in the rooms. Also there is a mini fridge in the room which worked well. - The bathroom door is sliding glass but doesn’t seal closed. Fine if you’re close with the person you’re travelling with not ideal if you’re not!! The hotel is micro concept, and the rooms are definitely small but done as best they can. Overall the experience was pleasant for a 4 night stay but I definitely view this hotel as a place to sleep and then get yourself out for the day / night. Not a place to stay and chill.

First time in NYC & OMG. Wonderful stay and experience. Booked the sky view king room— the bed/pillows, the views, the staff, the location convenience, the attention to great detail- all superb! Definitely one of the best & staying here again!! Coming from a super picky traveler that works in quality management.
