We had a very good stay Chez Michel. Lovely people, full of good advice for sightseeing and Michelle is always ready to help. The property is very well located with regular metro connections, you reach the heart of manhatan in 30 minutes max. We also parked our vehicle during the stay in the street without problem.I strongly recommeded that address.

We had a brilliant 4 night stay in the John Lennon room. Michelle is fantastic host, incredibly friendly with a great knowledge of New York. The whole accomodation was spotlessly clean throughout and well equipped with free WiFi and hot drink facilities we (as English travellers we found the kettle a rare and welcome treat in US hotels!). If you're not looking for fancy hotels and don't mind spending 10 minutes on the subway to go downtown, I really recommend Michelle's b&b. We rented Apt3 at Michelle's Bed and Breakfast in early November for several of us because we wanted to stay in the heart of Harlem for it's rich culture, cuisine, jazz, tours, architecture, museums and churches. When we arrived, Michelle greeted us so warmly and friendly at her beautiful brownstone building that we immediately felt at home. She provided us... More

Staying in Harlem

Neighbourhood Profile
Harlem
As a hub of African American culture, Harlem has played a vital role in the history of New York City. Today, the neighbourhood is as vibrant as ever as new businesses and developments go up next to local institutions. The heart of the neighbourhood is bustling 125th Street, where street vendors and historic landmarks like the Apollo Theater mingle with big-name stores. Turn down almost any corner, and you’ll discover some of the most beautiful blocks in the city, filled with handsome brownstones, soul food restaurants, corner shops, and scenic parks. For a taste of a real New York neighbourhood, it’s hard to top a visit to Harlem.
