About

#210 of 523 hotels in New York City
11 Howard is an innovative hotel located in SoHo, at the crossroads of the Bowery, Chinatown and Little Italy. This storied area of Lower Manhattan is one of the borough's last great domains. In the 1960s and ‘70s, it was an epicenter of contemporary art, home to legends like Chuck Close and Frank Stella. The artistic spirit endures in an eclectic mix of culture, fashion and food. Destined to become a classic, 11 Howard answers the call for a relaxed, smartly curated place to stay in this dynamic district. 11 Howard’s guiding principle, “conscious hospitality,” defines its fundamental character. We approach each aspect of the hotel, from design to location amenities to our ultramodern brand of service, which awareness, purpose and thoughtful consideration.

This is an "OK" hotel but it's not a 5-star hotel. I'm not sure how they can call themselves that. This is very much a roadside holiday-inn. I've stayed at many 5-star hotels in the city including the Ritz, Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental and even Mr. C's on the SeaPort (4 star hotel) and all were MUCH nicer. To be a 5 star hotel they need larger rooms, showers that are walk-in (not bathtubs), a bar that's open 7 days a week, room service (they have none), a spa and much more. They claim to have room service but it's just a take out order from a nearby restaurant and it's served in cardboard with plastic-wear. We tried it once for the kids and it was horrible (soggy fries, cold food, etc). Even if they offered room service there wouldn't be enough space in the room to comfortably eat it. The kids had to eat on their bed. Decent place but not 5 stars, not by a long shot.

You need to walk a couple of blocks for shopping or dining (unlike some Manhattan hotels) but it is a nice hotel. I didn't love the surrounding location but the staff were 5-star all the way. Rooms are small but very clean. Hopefully the restaurants will reopen soon. We were there on a weekend and it was very quiet too - huge plus!

For 2 years before the pandemic hit, I traveled to NYC almost every week for work and 11 Howard was my favorite hotel. we got to the point where they knew my likes and dislikes and room preferences. I knew some of the staff by name (Jan is the Absolute best) and it felt like a swanky home away from home. I hope they survive these crazy times. I can't wait to stay with them again

I stayed at 11 Howard right around the time they opened in 2016 in a Howard Sr. King Room. I felt that the check-in process and lobby staff service was aloof and thought it was probably because it was still a young hotel. I went back this past week and stayed for four days, checking in on the day that COVID-19 was announced as a pandemic. Since my first visit, 11 Howard's service seems to have progressively gotten worse. The Good: * A gentleman dressed like one of the porters (he didn't wear the 11 Howard sweatshirt or the all-navy suit) checked my fiancé and me into the hotel. He was welcoming, clearly explained the benefits of our Amex benefits, and highlighted other hotel benefits like the complimentary water bottles. * Housekeeping staff did a great job tidying our Howard Deluxe Room, especially because of the COVID-19 outbreak. * Room service delivery team was lovely every time we saw them (we ordered frequently as part of 'social distancing') Everything else: - I asked for a detailed breakdown of all of our food and beverage charges during our stay. Upon check-out, I was told that they couldn't do it at that time but would email me the information. I didn't get anything. After four days, I called the hotel to request the information again. They emailed me the folio but not the itemized receipts. I responded back to the email to ask for the correct information and didn't hear back. I sent a follow-up email the next day and still haven't heard back. - There were some questionable design choices made with our room. For example, the closet was in a small hallway that made it perfect for getting ready or ironing clothes. But I quickly realized that there were no outlet plugs in the hallway, and the only available outlet plugs were in a small cramped area by the bed. Also, the toilet was installed so close to the sink so that when washing your hands, the toilet seat was right behind your calves. You're SOL if you happen to be a bigger person! Don't fall for the gimmicks here -- it's sleek and still somewhat buzzy, but that's it. Spend the money and go elsewhere. 11 Howard isn't worth the headache or annoyance that comes with staying at this property.

11 Howard is a good location in the midst of SoHo offering a kind of boutique feeling. Reception is scaled down limiting itself to a small walk around desk instead of the standard reception. Up the stairs you find the bar and a very small lounge area. No breakfast restaurant as far as I could see. Rooms are slightly minimalist with comfy beds and nice bathroom. All in all a rather scaled down feeling. Check-was smooth although room was not ready at 14:00 my luggage was taken care of. Check out was not as smooth as I was first presented the bill for another room and then was supposed to have a copy mailed to me but this didn't work so I had to ask twice to get it. Room for improvement here. No VIP treatment although we were a group booking in total 30 person-nights. Two in our group changed rooms due to noise level 1 at top floor due to ventilation fans, 2 at street
