This hotel was fine but I think it was overpriced. Pro: Good Location. Responsive Staff. Comfortable bed. Con: Hall smelled of vomit and air-freshener, room was musty and pretty small even by NYC standards. Could hear neighbors and a lot of street noise. Did not feel very clean. No recognition on Bonvoy Ambassador status.
I am scheduled to check in today, 8/19. I will provide an update as my stay carries out. I am booked for 3 nights. As of now, I think I may like it here. I am big on customer service and their customer service here started off well. I called at 3am in the morning of my reservation date and spoke to KEVIN, whom offered a warm and welcoming energy in the wee hours of the morning. That was a pleasant beginning. I explained to him I was celebrating my husband's surprise birthday extravaganza and our hotel stay here started the journey that would lead to his surprise party on 8/21 at the Giando on the Water and end with his surprise trip to Aruba, staying at the Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino ( You can see I love lodging with the Marriott domestic and international). I requested early check in for 12 noon in order to personalize the room, possible upgrade and asked for a complimentary birthday item from the hotel and KEVIN was eager to assist. He noted the account and agreed to inform the staff of the request approvals. THANKS KEVIN! As a platinum elite member, these little gestures of kindness not only awarded for the level but provided by the staff is what keeps me lodging with Bonvoy, along with superior customer service. My experience with Marriott has always included the accommodating gestures and to date, at 11 Howard, it continues to be the same thus far. So, my experience, because of KEVIN, is going great. I will keep you posted! Update 1: My journey with 11 Howard Hotel Designs continues to be awesome! So, after following the instruction of KEVIN to give the hotel a call after 9am, I encountered MICHAEL. I guess they may be identical twins, lol, because MICHAEL was just as accommodating as KEVIN with a splash of "follow up". After speaking to MICHAEL, not only was the notes Kevin left in the system but MICHAEL made sure to apply the touch of surprise I really needed to make the surprise birthday extravaganza a "hit"! I was officially granted the upgraded room, the top floor and the complimentary birthday amenity sent to the room. MICHAEL called me back to make sure to inform me everything was taken care and to double check details for a perfect setup. Has your Hotel done that?? Lol.... So far, my journey is flowing in excellence...Thank you MICHAEL!!! Update 2: I must add another member to the great service, JONATHAN. He assisted me with settling my surprise birthday in the room. Thank you JONATHAN! Update 3: THE ROOMS ARE HORRIBLE! THIS PLACE IS VERY MUCH OVER PRICED...MARRIOTT, IM DISAPPOINTED! My first room, because changes were unfortunately necessary, was ROOM 1508. It should be placed in the equipment room of the airport, it was ridiculously loud. It sound like the air conditioner was landing planes and the toilet refilling sound like it was a water hydrant after the water spout was busted. Not to mention, the shower water was not draining properly so it was filling up over my feet, DISGUSTING!! Needless to say, I was moved to ROOM 1115. This room was just as small and had no logically accessible outlets. However, it had an extension cord for guest usage? Not for $400+ a night!!! The staff tried to accommodate me with a bottle of white wine and seltzer water, although nice, definitely not a compensation for a $2000+ stay.…
Loved this place! Amazing location and staff makes you feel at home! We were checked in immediately. Stayed in a room (2 couples) and still had plenty of space for nyc! Great walking distance to other bars and restaurants. Staff even offered to call a cab and have umbrellas to take when leaving.
We stayed in two rooms during the second week of July 2022. First off, we had a great stay and have no complains about the hotel or the hotel staff. However, this property is simply not a 5 star hotel. It is a solid 4 star property. There is no bellman to assist with luggage or doorman. Multiple times, I returned to the hotel with my arms full and, without help from staff (doorman) I had to struggle with opening the door. Personally, I did not mind, however, if it was a 5 star, that would not have happened. The rooms were very clean and were a decent size by NYC standards. The location is absolutely fantastic! It is close to NYU/Washington Square, Comedy Cellar, Greenwich Village, Katz’s Deli, The Strand, etc. We took a direct subway up to The Met and Central Park. The subway station is less than a block from the hotel so it is very convenient. There is also a shared bike rack across the street. And there are plenty of separated bike lanes throughout the city. Everyone who worked at the hotel was extremely friendly and very service oriented. We will stay here in the future. Just lower your expectations a bit on the “luxury” angle.…
We came here pre-Covid (late Jan 2020) and had a great stay. Super trendy, rooms were new, staff was great, so we decided to stay again on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The staff was not welcoming, they actually seemed uninterested in working there Maybe because it was a holiday weekend? Or possibly because the hotel was noted in the Netflix series Inventing Anna they thought they were known and didn't have to care? Either way, it did not start off well. They sent us to our room, the hallways are super dark (like a nightclub) then we got to our room and it was also dark and so small (compared to the last one we stayed in). There were scratches and nicks on the walls, the iPad to order items/contact the desk didn't work. I tried to upload a video of the bouncing iPad (so you couldn't click anything but TA won't let me upload it). So you had to call for anything you needed. Overall it just felt eh. I also feel like with 2 years of less visitors, you'd think they would have spruced the place up a bit. It was quite the opposite. We ordered room service around 11pm, and brought up the wrong items and the person delivering the items was impatient and it wasn't even very late. Overall I feel like a two is generous, a 1.5 would be more aligned.…
This hotel is a joke. Terrible/non-existent service both in-room and communal areas. Staff is non existent/unfriendly and if you happen to find one wandering around the hotel you are not realy sure if they are staff or guests. Reception staff not helpful at all - asked them once for help to call a taxi and they said they don’t offer such a service.
Call a spade a spade. This hotel is fine. But it is not 5 star. There is literally no service, hidden charges everywhere, no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms, no bath robes, no greeting when you arrive. We stayed for 5 nights and were lucky we were far away from the bar area but heard many other guests complaining about the noise at night. The rooms are fine, pretty tired could use a lick of paint and some TLC. There are better places to stay in New York!
Tyler shines as a perfect ambassador for 11 Howard! I was welcomed with a smile and the definition of what hospitality is by Tyler. She was able to check me in immediately and told me everything about the hotel and what to expect. Very appreciative for her kindness and warm greeting. I will be coming back and hold Tyler personally responsible for that!
Im going to say this once: this is the best hotel in nyc for two reasons: 1. The location cannot be beat for restaurants, walking around the city, workouts, restaurants, etc 2. The red infrared sauna located on the 3rd floor, the Higher Dose, I went 3 times in the 5 days I was there and its the perfect way to detox after nights out drinking in the city I love this place, the ambience, the cool decor, the elegance, the service... the best!
We came to the city last minute for a concert. The standard rooms were smaller than most, and not well kept. It’s hard for me to believe this is a 5-star hotel. The staff is pretentious, patronizing, and unaccommodating if they think you don’t belong there.
