When I called to inquire about the property, the owner hung up on me, then I called back and he yelled at me calling me a scammer and then hung up again. I can't believe how rude and unprofessional this owner is.
Lovely old historic house with great charm. Nice place to visit if you appreciate the simple things in life (i.e nothing fancy like microwaves or coffee makers). Rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. No onsite dining options but there are plenty of good local restaurants around to choose from. The owner and hostess were very friendly and accommodating.
Quaint. Antiquated. Simple. Friendly staff and owner! I'd stay again in a heartbeat. Our TV didn't work, but we didn't care, as we were not there to watch TV... It was clean, quiet, and that was all that mattered. Love this place, and will return. Don't let the other reviews scare you off! Antique furniture abounds, and the rustic style is calming and welcoming. It has a down-to-earth, friendly country style to it. We were happy we chose this place over our crappy 1st chain hotel by the interstate. As noted in other reviews, there is no kitchen because there's too little traffic/business to justify it. They did have a few bottled beers if you wanted one of those, however. Anyway...I'd not hesitate to stay again.
This place has so much potential and you won't die if you stay there. Just don't expect much. It is so rundown and unkempt. You have to zoom in on the pictures to see the paint chipping and the rust running down from the window units. The grounds haven't been kept up, no telling when the grass was last cut. The inside is dark and dingy. Think ghost mansion. Kids toys out front and in the entrance area. There was a dining room but apparently they don't serve food. We couldn't even get ice. When we arrived at 4pm there was a shoeless older gentleman that didn't seem to speak or understand English well. He couldn't help us or the person on the phone, he handed the phone to my friend so he could help a lady calling. Several couples came in after us. The note on the counter said " I will be back at 4:30". We all just looked at each other then at our phones to find other accommodations. It was the weekend of the Apple Festival, every place was booked. At 4:45 there was still nobody to help us. The elderly gentleman just handed us all keys to various rooms to look at. At this point we all considered it an adventure. The rooms were dark and very dated with little 8inch old box tv's. By 5 a woman returned and gave us no apology or explanation just gave us keys to "prepared rooms". The room was clean, the window unit worked so we just stayed. It's a historical site and could be fixed up so nicely. It's a real shame that it's in the condition it's in. …
I stayed at Mansouri Mansion for an experience, and I got it. The hotel was built in the 1860s and is full of history and charm. There are all sorts of stories throughout. The rooms are clean and charming. The staff are very courteous and accommodating. Walking the grounds was a joy and the breakfast restaurant across the street was fabulous!
My friends and I were looking for a place to get a cup of coffee and perhaps dessert before going to Flat Rock Playhouse. We saw the classy sign for Mansouri and it said that there is a restaurant and pub, so we decided to give it a try. We drove up the driveway, and when the "mansion" came into view, we were shocked. The building looks quite dilapidated. Old window air conditioners are hanging out of the windows. There is nothing classy looking about the outside of the building. We did not have reservations or the intention of staying there, but if we had, we would never had made it to the front door. We did not stop to inquire about the possibility of coffee, etc, but turned around in the parking area and headed right back to the highway.
I went to an all girls camp growing up for 8 years about 15 minutes away from this hotel. The last time I stayed here was 8-10 years ago, back then it was called the WoodField Inn. I looked forward to visiting this inn every year just as much as I looked forward to going to camp. It was absolutely stunning, the grounds were gorgeous and romantic and well kept, the food was amazing and the bathrooms were gorgeous. When I was a little girl, I always said I would get married here or have an engagement party. The bridal suite was one of the most beautiful charming rooms ever! As I am currently talking about getting engaged, I immediately thought of the WoodField Inn. I made a weekend get away to Flatrock, I was concerned when I realized that the WoodField Inn is now Mansouri Mansion. When I drove up, I was sure there must have been a mistake. The place was completely run down and empty. The grounds looked terrible. I talked to the girl at the front desk and after I talked to her, I got on Trip Advisor, read the reviews, and just started crying. The WoodField Inn is gone. The new owners have completely, totally ruined this hotel. If they have owned it for 4 years, I wouldn't understand why or financially, HOW they are keeping it going. Because it is a historically owned property, I am thinking that they are getting grants from the government to keep the place running. However, they are NOT keeping it running. Owners, if you are reading this, I have a background in historical preservation and nonprofit grants. I'll be checking your tax and property records, and your 501c3 records. What you have done to this property is NOT ACCEPTABLE. Whatever sketchiness is going on here is going to come out! I will make sure of it. Time to fight back. You have ruined a gorgeous, magical, historic place. DO NOT GO HERE!!!…
We were in search of an old favorite, The Woodfield Inn, and turned into Mansouri Mansion and knew we had arrived at the old Woodfield Inn. Our fond memories were not dampened by the unkept grounds or disrepair; we could recall its splendor. While turning around in the parking lot we were approached by a gentlemen who inquired as to why we were there. He graciously invited us in and took us on a tour of the inn as it is today. He admitted that his business had declined and the restaurant was not in operation but he was proud of the property and its history. We were thrilled to have been granted access by such a pleasant owner. Then we read Trip Advisor!!! I must admit that we might not want to overnight there with no breakfast service or as the only guests. I hope that someone will restore it and recreate the ambiance of former times. I believe it is listed on National Historic Register, so it must be preserved. …
My husband booked a room before looking at reviews. We walked in and immediately walked out. This place is dark, dingy, and dilapidated. It could be a great place in the hands of an owner willing to put some time and effort into it. Sad!
This place could actually be quite nice if the owner would care. Had a creepy feeling as soon as you walk through the door. The girl that greeted us bairly spoke english. I called the day before arriving, gave credit card and received no email confirmation. That should have been a sign. The girl gave us a key to check out the room. Turned right around and walked away. Will definitely keep an eye on the credit card account to make sure we're not charged. Don't waste your time going unless they renovate. The location is ideal for someone to buy and renovate.
