This was advertised with WiFi, a king size bed, and 1 1/2 bath. However, the WiFi didn’t work, the bed was Queen size and there was no 1/2 bath! Other than that all was good. The mattress was very comfy.
We look forward to staying here each year as we travel through on our way north or south. The rooms are reminiscent of vintage lake cottages. They are basic but comfortable and pristine as far as cleanliness. The millpond and sound of water are very relaxing. We always find something good to eat at local restaurants or grill something to have onsite. The area offers great drives, biking, hiking and interesting places to visit. If you want to venture a bit further, all of Asheville awaits!
Great place for a relaxing trip. This location is close to wonderful food and local shops and vineyards. They even provide you with a list of local eateries that will give you a discount for staying with Mill House Lodge. Every room offers a fabulous view of lake where they have free canoes and paddle boats.
We booked a room that was supposed to be "Lake View" and updated , but ended up getting a room that was in the dungeon and smelled of pot and was dark and dingy. We brought our concerns to management and the where rude and unapologetic. Offered to refund us and that we could leave, but nothing else and there was no other place to stay in town. The room was very outdated and not even close to the "Lake". Next to our room was a room that was in shambles that vagrants had been using that wreaked of urine, pot, and God knows what else. The door was left open for anyone to take up camp, when I brought this up to management ( a very rude women who chain smoked on the property) she claimed is was not an issue as they where not renovating it and it was not open. The next day the room was locked ( thankfully) and the beers thrown around the outside had been removed. It is a shame, the property is beautiful. The accommodations and manager on the other hand where deplorable.…
Small for the price but all room overlook the pond. Staff and beds were excellent. Downtown Hendersonville was just a short ride. Close to Chimney Rock State park and excellent restaurants. Most definitely would book again.
We have stayed her multiple times over the past couple of years and have loved every visit. The view of the lake from our room is worth the trip alone. I love sitting by the lake reading while the kids play and the fact that they provide canoes is fabulous. We just got home and are already planning our next visit.
Visited Flat Rock, NC after Christmas and thru New Years 2021 stayed in the Mill House and it was perfect, clean, comfortable, peaceful, and a beautiful view from every window. Staff were also kind & courteous... Flat rock & Hendersonville are cute little towns, we’re also close to Asheville, NC & Chimney Rock, we also ventured over to Beech Mountain & Boone for the day. Loved Mill house lodge, we went canoeing & had a bonfire. Looking forward to visiting again I the future!!!
The pictures on the website are very misleading, especially the room pictures. When I booked our room, I wanted one that was “updated”. They put us in the building that have the older rooms. Very old furniture, bed, stains on the carpet, mold in the room and on outdoor furniture on the porch. I called and told them it wasn’t the room I wanted. They then put us in one of the “updated” rooms but it really was only a slight improvement. It smelled old, bed was old as well as the furniture. Thank goodness we only booked one night, it was an awful experience.
We love this place. We can cook and don't have to eat out. It is only an hour from home, so its a fast , nice get a way. It is peaceful, and we enjoy ourselves every time we go. The staff is very friendly.
We will never stay here again. The pictures are very misleading. Although the inside of our cottage was somewhat clean, there are rusty tables haphazardly in the yard, an unsuable and unsafe dock, an old broken dresser on the porch, etc. The grounds are unkept. The canoes were filthy, the pool had old towels and garbage laying around. At no point did we see an employee cleaning or straightening up. We are not high maintenance guests. We would never recommend the Mill House Lodge. For those who have COVID concerns, no employees in the office wore masks or were taking any additional precautions.
