We had a bay view king room for our two night stay as a getaway as we are locals and wanted to stay somewhere close. The tower we were in was dated, walls were thin, and the hallway had a strong smell of weed. Outside our tower at night people would campout on the sand and have bonfires until 1 in the morning, making it impossible for us to sleep. You could hear the people in the room next to us all night with a screaming child, which we understand as parents, but wish the walls weren't as thin. Hotel restaurant food was not good and overpriced. Tried to order room service for breakfast and it wasn't an option. We will not be coming back, it seems more like a party hotel versus a nice getaway hotel, lessons were learned. Parking is difficult to find as well.
During these days of COVID, you can’t help but be concerned about travel and spending time at a hotel, but you need not worry if you’re staying here. All employees wore masks at all times, hand sanitizing stations were everywhere, and each time we dined at the wonderful Bahia Cafe, we observed how thoroughly they cleaned after guests departed. It was clear they did all that was humanly possible to guard the health of their guests and employees. The hotel is located in a beautiful area on Mission Bay. There are a little over 300 rooms spread out over many nicely landscaped acres on a peninsula. Other than two four-story buildings—one at each end of the resort—most of the rooms are in one- and two story buildings facing the water on each side. We stayed in a room with two queens overlooking the bay. The room was very clean, with a huge flat-screen tv. The bathroom is small but not an issue. There was a huge porch/balcony. One nice touch was the texting service. You could text questions or requests and receive a quick response. Our first night there we ordered room service since we arrived too late to eat at their restaurant. The person delivering the meal arrived with a tray, which they give you at the door. An employee never needed to enter the room, but housekeeping would bring anything you needed and leave it in a clear plastic bag hanging on your outside door handle. This leads to my one small criticism. We left our food tray outside the door as requested that night we arrived, but it was not picked up for two days. That’s no big deal, except because the rooms open to an outdoor walkway, some animal or bird got into the leftover food and scattered it across the walkway. I had read other reviews saying the same thing happened, so there’s room for improvement in that. It’s a small matter, though, considering all the extra things employees must be doing to keep things clean these days. We dined at the Bahia Cafe for breakfast twice and dinner once on my daughter’s 21st birthday. My compliments to Kona, the server that night, for making it special. The food each time was excellent, and they have a nice selection of reasonably priced wines. We also took advantage of the airport transportation service offered by So Cal Transportation. Ray, the owner/driver, while an independent and not an employee of the hotel, was a great ambassador for the Bahia. He is a friendly, warm person, and I felt like I had made a new friend. The bottom line: the Bahia is a great escape if you need a break from all the craziness and are concerned about safety. Every employee we met always wore a smile and were extremely friendly. You could tell they enjoyed working there, which to me is clear indication of a well-run hotel with management that cares about people. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to San Diego.…
The Bahia Resort is our favorite place to stay in San Diego. Great rooms, relaxing atmosphere, and cabanas on the private bay beach ...are all FABULOUS. But what REALLY makes our stays most enjoyable is the staff! For our recent visit, shout out to front desk staff Christian and Cynthia. They each went over and above to take care of us. Thank you Christian and Cynthia. I highly recommend the Bahia Resort. EVERY one of our visits throughout the years have been extraordinary.
My stay at the Bahia Resort was an exceptional experience. The Room was big, clean and held all the accommodations needed. The view complements the Hotel very well and the beach access is amazing. Everything was good with the room and service but, Staff at the Front Desk made the experience all that more pleasurable. When I ran into a Room Issue Cynthia made sure it was taken care of. Thanks to her efforts the Issue was resolve in a timely manner and I was very Happy with the outcome. I'm glad I Chose to stay at the Bahia Resort Hotel. I appreciate the Staff for their help and the Unique Experience they have provided. I will be returning in the near Future.
Our trip is upcoming (Spring Break - April). I wanted to give a shout out to OSCAR in Reservations. Honestly, the website was a bit misleading. We booked a King Suite directly via the resort’s website. The associated photos / description inferred a large suite with a king bed, 2 queens and a sofa bed. This was actually not the case. Eventually, I called the hotel and spoke to Isabel and then Oscar. Oscar was receptive to our needs and went over the top with kindness and eagerness to find just the right room at the best rate possible. Thank you, Oscar!! He’s a true ambassador of the Bahia Resort! I so appreciate good customer service! I’ll update the review after our stay.
