There was mold on top of the bathroom shower. There were stains on the sofa. There was dust. This place needs to be cleaned or refurbished. It is a ghetto and appears that perhaps the less fortunate (homeless) were taken in at this site. The smell is the worst.
Covid has caused many a things to be cancelled for our family in the last 4 months. We needed to get away to our favorite Southern California city for just a night and eat at some of our favorite restaurants, etc. We love to stay at Residence Inns. We love the set up, the space, and it works for us as a family of four. We normally prefer to stay at The Residence Inn at Bayfront, but surprisingly, they were completely booked for tonight. We'd been curious about Residence Inn Downtown in the event we ever got lucky to score a reservation here for Comic Con week. We reserved a 2 room suite, it was pretty pricey for $309 a night. We were given a room on the 4th floor, overlooking the trolley tracks. Within minutes a trolley passed by and it was loud. I went down to the front desk to inquire about switching rooms. Unfortunately all the 2 room suites were booked. So we were stuck. Upon returning to our room, my family had inspected the room and it wasn't very clean. There were crumbs and wrappers all over the kitchen counters. In this day and age of Covid, something this simple doesn't give you the confidence that everything else was cleaned and disinfected appropriately. We made our way down to the front desk and checked out. Thankful that Michelle was able to cancel the reservation without any penalty. She was very apologetic. Unfortunately, we will cross this hotel off our "possible hotels for Comic Con list". We found two rooms for the cost of the 2 room suite just down the way at the Courtyard Marriott in the Gaslamp District. Nice rooms, clean rooms, TV remote wrapped, doors sealed with a clean label. Other NOTES: The parking lot landscapping (tons of weeds) needs some tending to. Hallways need vaccuuming.…
Stayed in early July. Due to Covid19 pandemic, there were precautions/restrictions & gym& pool were closed. Masks were required in common areas, hand sanitizer was provided in lobby areas, social distancing was required as well. PROS: Great location: quick 10 min walk to so many restaurants in Little Italy, 20 min walk to Seaport Village,15 min drive to Coronado dog beach & mission bay. 7- 11 &gas station w/a convenience store is around the corner if needed. Staff was always friendly, helpful & professional with every single interaction .Parking area was not full for 4th of July weekend(probably due to covid19). Also bfast was in grab N go style in take out bags which was ok. Laundry room on 1st floor was nice amenity to have. Stayed 4 nights. Felt relatively safe as room key was needed to enter@all entrances 24/7. Had 2 bedroom & 2 baths -which was quite spacious for traveling w my 2 teens and dog, having kitchen was useful. H20 pressure& temp were great! Central a/c worked well! Liked having balcony & windows that opened to get clean ocean breeze to air out room in evenings. Had zero issues with wifi &elevators were quick-perhaps bcuz wasnt full occupancy? Beds were comfortable & we all slept well(I have a bad back) Waterfront park was literally across the street & great for walking/exercising dog. Hubby went for morning jogs along the waterfront since gym was closed. Although train tracks are behind bldg, did not hear it@night &didn't bother us at all since we were out exploring most of the day. Also the airport is nearby & we didn't hear noise from airplanes at all at night when sleeping. Cost is competitive to others in same area. Cons: property is NOT aging gracefully-can definitely use a facelift, lots of homeless people nearby but not bothersome to guests. I would definitely stay here again .…
Location is right off the highway and just around the corner from some great restaurants. You can walk to 25 eateries in every direction. Best spot is on the top floor facing the highway so you can see some of the views.
Hotel staff were excellent and very helpful. The hotel decor is a little dated, but nice. The rooms are large with a full kitchen. The beds were soft, but firm so I had a good night sleep. They have manager's mixer form 6- 7:30pm on Monday - Wednesday that seemed very nice - but I did not participate. They do have a complimentary buffet in morning that offers a nice selection of food choices The hotel location is very convenient as it is close to airport, old town, Little Italy, Sseaport village and gaslight district. One drawback is if you stay in rear area of hotel you can hear the trains. but they seem to stop about 10pm. My overall experience was very good
