Amazing hotel and staff! Room was spacious and clean. Very walkable. Next to the promenade, bars, food, and shopping. All just steps from the beach. I would highly recommend this hotel and will definitely be staying here again!
We stayed there for 6 nights recently and loved it! From check-in to check-out, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the room clean and comfortable. Lobby is airy and cute with a mid-century modern vibe. The room, though small, used space efficiently and had a nice balcony that overlooked the ocean & boardwalk. Furnishings included a king-sized bed, nightstands, dresser and table with 2 chairs. Also had a small table with 2 chairs on the balcony. Had a great ductless built-in air conditioner & relatively spacious bathroom & shower considering the limited space. Nice amenities (shampoo, soap, etc.) and a good-sized closet. Room also had a small refrigerator & microwave which came in handy on the couple of nights we got takeout and ate out on our balcony. Quick response on the couple of times we requested anything from housekeeping (shampoo or exchange of towels). Suggestions for improvement would be a firmer mattress and pillows (they went flat really quickly, but super-soft), and something to hang damp items to dry separately from towels in bathroom (which is a problem anytime you are near the ocean, so not sure what that would be, maybe some hooks on balcony?) :-) Pool area which included lounge chairs, hot tub & fire pit, was well set up overlooking the ocean. Location was fabulous, right on the beach, close to restaurants and shops within walking distance, so a car was not needed. Mike was extremely helpful in checking us in on our return flight (airline's website was glitchy), as well as retrieving a forgotten item to ship back to us. Look forward to hopefully staying there again!…
Room was great, clean, didn't notice any odors. Not fancy, beds were comfy and pillows were nice. Plenty of close dining. Great sunsets. Boardwalk is crazy. Bikes, joggers, dogs, loved the pier. The front desk was very friendly. Only downfall was very loud unruly teenagers in pool and no room in the hot tub, it was always full. Would stay there agin.
Perfect hotel for home base while touring San Diego. Boardwalk next to hotel provides great activity and food options. So many walkable conveniences, dining, stores, beach. I had spa services across the street at catamaran hotel. Drove to Coronado for one day beach excursion. This is not a fancy hotel - but great beach hotel to step onto the boardwalk, watch the sunset and enjoy fire-pit at night. Very friendly staff.
The Hotel is a 2.5 star hotel at best. Our room had a damp odor and water damage was apparent every where. Furniture was in bad shape. For $400/night, I expected better. The staff was great though. Would not recommend for young families. The alley in the back reeked of weed all day long. Beaches in La Jolla to the north and Mission Beach to the south are nicer than Pacific Beach.
I’d like to start this review by saying it was a last minute trip & we didn’t plan on staying right on the beach..but I’m so glad we did! As a kid and into my early teen years we stayed at the neighbor hotel (The Surfer) and I imagined I’d stay there as adult as well. I’m thrilled to say that The Blue Sea Beach Hotel far exceeded my expectations and I’d never imagine staying anywhere else! When we arrived we knew we were early but decided to pre-check in just in case we could snag an early-ish check in. Natalie greeted us at the front desk & was very professional & so nice! Our room wasn’t ready but Natalie gave us a key to access the bathroom in the lobby and the pool (I have kids so this was perfect). We chatted about the surrounding areas and she recommended a few places to grab lunch. We walked along the boardwalk and had some lunch…I called the hotel to ask a question and by my surprise our room was already ready! We were so stoked we gathered our stuff and went to check in…Natalie got us all set up on the second floor with a partial ocean view and wrote out directions to the underground parking structure… she took her time with me and just gave me such a good vibe! Great way to start our mini vacation! The room was bigger than I expected & had A/C! My husband was tired from our drive so he immediately laid down on the king size bed. It was more comfy than a normal hotel bed or at least the ones we had experienced in the past. My kids were in there swim suits faster than I could blink so we all headed down to the beach which is steps from this awesome hotel. When we returned we jumped in the pool for some more fun! After the pool my son took his swim suit off right in the middle out our hotel floor and got sand everywhere…my husband asked the housekeeper if she had a vacuum and she kindly came right away to vacuum the room. That night my son wanted a microwave Mac and cheese but I forgot spoons…of course the front desk had them! So accommodating! The kids we knocked out by 7:30pm and we were able to relax and watch a movie on the large flat screen tv while listening to the ocean waves from our balcony! I’m giving this hotel an 11/10! Couldn’t have been better! And Natalie was fantastic! I can’t wait to bring my parents here next summer and my kids can’t stop talking about how cool our hotel was & how much fun they had!…
Just returned from a great week in San Diego and the location of the Blue Sea Hotel did not disappoint - couldn’t get any closer to Pacific Beach and in walking distance to restaurants, bars and Belmont Park. My family booked two ocean view rooms - both had balconies overlooking Pacific Beach/the strand which was fantastic. One of the rooms had a smaller bathroom and a bar area upon walking in, the other room had a larger bathroom but no bar. Overall, mediocre rooms with some maintenance issues (leaking ceiling, towel holder kept falling down in bathroom…); however, we were only in our room to shower and sleep so these wouldn’t deter me from not staying here again - just know it’s an older hotel. Staff was very nice, pool overlooks the beach, great vibe all around. We will definitely stay at Blue Sea again and recommend to others. Mediocre hotel in a 5-star location.…
See reviews from- A7099cmkatiep + jdm608 + jerehmea and mine will concur. I do not think you could do much better .Price is good value for area. There is no doubt that the reason this place is great is the location and the management team and the hard working staff. 40 feet to the sand and about 200-300 feet to the water. Good on site parking and a full grocery store less than 3 blocks. Pool is cleaned daily and has a clear windscreen for onshore breeze. Mostly joggers , Surfers, and people on a variety of wheel machines on promenade Little to no riff/raff hanging in this area. Do not expect a Vegas 5 star luxury suite ,just a very nice, clean beach hotel.
We recently stayed 4 nights at the Blue Sea Beach Hotel and loved every minute of it. It was the perfect spot for all the family tourist spots be wanted to visit. Quick drive to SeaWorld and the zoo and steps from the ocean. Our kids had so much fun playing in the ocean and then walking a few steps back to play in the pool. I already can’t wait to go back! We had a partial ocean view room and it was PERFECT! Loved waking up to the view each day and watching the sunset from our balcony! Clean rooms, friendly staff and gorgeous setting!
My family and I had a great time at the Blue Sea. Not only is the hotel located in a perfect spot right on the water and close to shops and restaurants, but the room was super clean and spacious. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I also noticed every morning how hard they were working to prepare the pool deck for the upcoming day, cleaning the walkways and doors and generally keeping everything beautiful!
