We used the Sofia Hotel this past weekend for a room block for my wedding and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE! Amy was absolutely fantastic to work with over the last several months as guests called to reserve a room at the block rate. I heard from so many of our family and friends how helpful, friendly and accommodating she was as they booked rooms. She was extremely responsive sending me the list of guests who had booked and was really wonderful to work with. The hotel itself was terrific! Both the location but also the rooms themselves were something that many of our guests commented so positively on. It was perfectly located for our guests to participate in all of the weekend's events. The hotel staff was also extremely accommodating and wonderful to work. There are not enough nice things to say about The Sofia and it's staff! …
Room was excellent and we had enough space for 5 girls. Staff was kind and location was great with coffee and breakfast spots around the corner. Within walking distance to many restaurants/bars/clubs. Great spot.
An absolutely beautiful hotel, a wonderful staff and a convenient location. The lobby was elegant and well appointed. Our room was perfection. Cozy, yet spacious. The bedding was extremely comfortable.
This is a renovated historic hotel. It has been beautifully remodeled. It was perfect for my husband and I. The beds are comfortable - a big plus for me. The staff was very very helpful including front desk, concierge and housekeeping. Our room was small, but very efficient. I would recommend the Sofia.
Great staff but I wouldn't stay at this hotel again or recommend it to family or friends. The rooms are very small with limited counter space. It is very crowded for two people with two medium sized luggage. The bathroom was tiny like a small utility closet.
I was in San Diego for business. I could go to all my events walking, the location was perfect. We took the Hotel Walking Tour on Sunday through Gaslamp District and it was great. My suite was wide and had a living room. The bath accomodations were modern, while the room as well as the hotel remains historic and pintoresc. The staff was always responsive and kind.
I chose to stay at this hotel because it was advertised to have an onsite restaurant and spa. All I wanted to do was hang out at a spa and order room services for three days. When I showed up, the restaurant was closed the entire time. No one even had a granola bar to offer me. Also I feel that advertising this hotel as having a spa is false advertising. From what I gathered, there is a room that can be opened upon appointment for spa services. This is not the same thing. I was extremely disappointed in my experience. I would 100% have stayed anywhere else if I had known the truth. Also, I needed dental floss and toothpicks and the front desk had nothing. I have never in my life stayed at a hotel that did have a few sundry odds and ends for the convenience of their travelers - and I have stayed at several hotels. I don't think this hotel is a bad hotel. If was clean, the staff was professional, and the location was good. I just felt extremely mislead and disappointed by the advertising verses the actual experience that I signed up for. …
Excellent location to walk to the Gaslamp district. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to check in early. Room was very nice, bed extremely comfortable and the customer service was AMAZING!!!! Staff members were very accommodating and quick with any request we had (towels etc.) I will definitely come back and refer my friends/family.
The Sofia was a great experience. I was there for business and within walking distance to everything I needed to access or wanted to do. The staff were welcoming, and very helpful. The room was clean, quiet, and had great light. The location was perfect!
It states right on the website that you have a restaurant and there was none available. When we asked about it, the staff mentioned that "yes, the site needs to be updated and that they have heard that complaint alot" The price reflects amenities and there were none so the price should have been lower
