This is our second time to this location, with the first being several years ago and overall pretty good. Unfortunately times have changed. While we are still just a few hours into our stay its thus far been disappointing. Hotel room is small, bathroom very dirty with hairs left by prior lodgers, they utilize cheap pumps for either near empty,...

This place is right in the middle of the Gaslamp District which is great - you can walk anywhere safely and quickly - day or night. The hotel is also dog-friendly so I think literally everyone here had their pooches with them which was very fun. And the place never smelled like animals - also good ;) Biggest downside was...

We loved this hotel! The staff were always friendly and ready to help, the hotel was clean and fun, the pool was fantastic, food was great and check in and out were a breeze. There are lots of restaurants around and it's in the gaslamp district and close to the water. Definitely would stay here again!

I traveled to San Diego for a conference and spent 3 nights at the Kimpton Solamar. It was just lovely from beginning to end! The location of the hotel is excellent. It was less than 15 minutes from the airport, and is less than a block from Petco Stadium. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. The check in...

We just returned from San Diego after a 5 day stay. The Kimpton was great. The front desk staff was very helpful - texted me a few times to see if we needed anything. The rooms were clean and housekeeping staff helpful. It is one block off the very busy 5th Avenue but close to anything you might want in...

This was our first stop on a month long tour of California and our tour book described this as medium. Well I wish some of the later hotels were as good as this One small criticism is the signage could be improved on the outside as we missed it on our first pass down the street. Oh and the valet...

Have stayed at this great property several years in a row while attending a huge conference at the convention center. Last summer, I asked to see the meeting space because I am also a meeting planner for an association. I typically need to host conferences at large 'big brand' hotels with no personality. Booked the space and am actually hosting...

I've stayed at this Kimpton several times for work. Its right in the heart of the Gaslamp, and walking distance to the San Diego Convention Center. Yawn, I know, but great for the business travelers. Would definitely stay again, consistent service, decent bar and right across the street from freaking fabulous seafood at the Water Grill (expensive, but worth it...

My husband and I took a last minute overnight trip to San Diego, which we have done many times. When looking for a hotel online, we came across Hotel Solamar which had a great rate (on their website) and amenities and hopped in the car. What sets this hotel apart from others we have stayed in when visiting the Gaslamp...

We had a corner room with a view of downtown. Very roomy and comfortable. The staff are some of the most outgoing and friendly my wife and I have ever come across. They are always smiling, asking how we were, if we needed directions, transportation or recommendations of activities. We loved the area the Hotal is situated right at the...
