I’ve been a rewards member and average at least 1 night a month at different Marriott properties usually for business so I get points . I was in San Diego with the fam and decided to stay another night but couldn’t at the condo we rented so I used points at Four Points. To say it was a horrible experience would be nice and the customer service since has been atrocious! First sitting on the floor with my 3 year old I found weed in the carpet . And then I found pubes in the bath so I thought I cleaned it out good enough but nope when I went to put a pull up on her I found one on her belly . That’s just a couple of things but the customer service has been a joke ! They waived the $20 parking fee on site when I complained and I got 3000 of the 20,000 points I used to stay . I was told that the 3k in points was all the girl could approve at her level but she would escalate it above her . Now after two more calls and being told someone would get in contact with me, I just called again was told somehow since I excepted the 3k in points that the claim was closed . The girl was extremely rude telling me I agreed to it and I said I didn’t and I know it’s recorded and I’d like to request it as I know the girl told me she would be escalating my case as it was all she could do . What in the world happened to customer service . I’ve never left a review but I’m just besides myself right now with this situation! You’d think they’d take sanitary issues more serious with COVID !!!…
I stayed one night during a weekend trip to San Diego to get away from home for a while. I've been to San Diego many times, but because it takes only ninety minutes to drive there, I very rarely stay overnight. It's easy to get to this hotel from southbound I-5 (off the Rosecrans Av. exit). The hotel itself is in average condition, with signs of wear or deferred maintenance in the common areas. The front desk staff was good enough to let me leave my bags until I could check in, as well as after I checked out but before I left to go home. The king room was nice enough, with a small microwave and fridge and a decent desk chair. The TV provides access to some streaming platforms (bring your own account) and free Showtime. There were a *lot* of small children at the hotel, with all that entails. I don't know if that's normal or there was some toddlers' convention nearby, but it was hardly calm and peaceful, especially since I was "upgraded" to a courtyard room overlooking the smallish pool. At least they (mostly) had early bedtimes. Things to look out for: -- The hotel charges $15 a night for parking. They don't make a point of telling you that when you book your room. If you book through the Sheraton website and ask to see the room rate with "all taxes and fees," they don't include the parking fee. A mention does show up on your email confirmation on page seven of nine (if you print it), after all the promotions (that is, long after you stop reading). This is dishonest, and probably constitutes false advertising. -- The reason the parking fee matters is that there's no viable street parking. The surrounding area is, to be kind, sketchy, and parking on these streets seems like an invitation to have your car vandalized or stolen. -- The onsite security guard isn't uniformed (or wasn't when I was there). The random guy flagging you down in the parking lot with a flashlight probably isn't a mugger if he asks to see your parking pass. When it's late enough at night, though, you may be reluctant to find out. -- While it's easy to get to the hotel from southbound I-5, it's nowhere near as easy to get back on. The only viable route is to go south on Camino del Rey to Sports Area Boulevard, then west to Midway Drive, then onto the I-8 to get back on SB I-5, a 2.5-mile detour. Unless you're going to Sea World, you'll need to be on southbound I-5 to get to everything you'll want to do in San Diego. -- Likewise, getting back to the hotel from northbound I-5 is less than straightforward. You can either retrace your steps via I-8 (see above), or go east on I-8 to Taylor St./Hotel Circle, get back on I-8 westbound, then get off on Rosecrans. The distance is more-or-less a wash, but the latter requires less driving on surface streets. Knowing all this, I wouldn't stay here again; there are other options more conveniently situated that cost not much more than this place did with all the fees included. It's probably your cheapest non-toxic choice for Sea World; just remember there's a reason that it's cheaper.…
I made a reservation to Four Points Sheraton San Diego via American Express Travel. Made a 3 hour drive down from my home in Los Angeles. When I got to the hotel, they told me first to wait as the reservation was processing. Then they let me know the reservation was lost even though I had an e-mail confirmation from American Express travel . The hotel clerk provided no extra assistance. He and the manager said that someone would call to help us find other accommodations but we never received that call. We ended up having to drive 3 hours back home breaking the hearts of my 2 young children. Sheraton should only allow reservations that they can fulfill. Until this is the case I would avoid their chain.
Struggled to rate this because the hotel itself isn't bad (nothing truly outstanding either) it is a higher end version of a highway motel. So do you rate it as such (which would garner a slightly higher ranking) or do you rank it as a Sheraton property and based on comparable cost of, say, the motel across the street? I'll list it out and you be the judge. Pros: Convenient to highways, an arena, a shopping plaza with food and a Target, some chain eateries and restaurants. Smart TV, comfortable bed, pool area, very quiet in room, and spacious bathroom. Cons: The bottom of my sheets were stained in a couple places, which I hadn't noticed until the comforter came up the second night. The front desk check in had little friendliness or charm. The area around the hotel is horrid, I literally had to step over a homeless person at the front gate who I was concerned was possibly dead when I checked in. The location to the trolley would be a plus, but that walk even during the day is dreadful, as the smell of human decay under the bridge made me nearly vomit. The pool was pretty dirty. Some of the cons most certainly can't be controlled by the hotel, but still detract from a willingness to suggest people stay here unless they are fully aware that the convenience to mass transit isn't as easy as it looks. If you have a car, it might be a better option solely if this location is important to you.…
Located in a seedy area. Strip club 1 block away. Desk clerk said on checking in that they had security that monitored the fenced parking area. Oh and bty there is an additional $15/day charge to the room. Very clean updated motel. Except for the noise. We stayed in a 2nd floor room. On friday and saturday we thought we had found the perfect hotel. 2 nights great sleep. Good breakfast, clean. Then sunday midnight they put someone in the room above us. Sounded like a construction crew. Constant loud footsteps, banging, moving of furniture, Went on till 3:30 am. Called the front desk. They said they would send security on the first call. 2nd call they said they just called them. 3rd call at 3:45 they said we could move. Pack all our stuff up and move at 4 in the morning and try to make it to my 6am meeting. Not happening. They said nothing they could do. Got back after work at 8pm. Everything was quiet. Went to bed at 10. 12:30 it started all over again. Someone pacing the room continuously and dropping stuff. Front desk said nothing they could do. Went on till 4 am when we packed up and went to another hotel. Front desk people could not care less. Will never go back. Went out to my truck at 7am and found a junkie sifting through the back of my pick up. He walked away when challenged. Front desk said they only have security at night, Nothing they could do.…
