Upon making the reservation, I’ve indicated special request/remarks that I required no feather products due to allergies, and that a special occasion was the purpose of the stay. Upon check in, the room was said to be not available as I arrived earlier than the standard check-in time of 4. I was asked the purpose of my stay which I said was an anniversary and was briefly acknowledged. I was then offered an upsell to a suite room with additional $35 which I agreed to as I did not want to wait for a room. He did not mentioned or confirm about the feather allergies, which my partner just took an allergy pill as it’s just a one nighter. When we got to the room, the room was nice with great views. But there was a spot stain on the sofa, bathroom sink does not drain properly, yellow stain on the flat sheet, one of the shower lightbulb was blown, mirror tv not working, and bed was uncomfortable (personal preference). I also requested for bath robes and ice on 2 separate occasion and each took 20-30mins. At check out, I asked for the breakdown of the bill at front desk, as I saw that the hotel amenities fees was still there. I booked the good neighbor offer rate which suppose to have it waived. I had to bring it up for him to wave it off. I asked for a billing folio to be sent as well. Around 4pm, I called for the billing folio to be sent again and did not receive it. At 7.15pm, I realised that a laptop was left in the room. I called the hotel and they directed me to an online platform to place in a request for a missing item. I asked if they had someone on site to confirm the item was there which I guess due to covid they did not have anyone to check. I then asked for my billing folio to be sent which I was placed on hold as she went to check a guest in, a guy answered and I repeated myself, and he place me on hold again, and the girl that first assisted me answered and then helped to send it to me. I was place on hold for a total of at least 15 mins. The whole call was 34 mins, to get a copy of my bill, and to ask about a lost item. The HSKP manager assisted with the retrieval of the item the following day. …
If you are traveling to San Diego and need a place to stay this is a must! I felt really safe here and the hotel is very clean. You can tell the housekeeping team does an amazing job and the room is spotless. They have set everything up for you fell safe from the check in to the distance pool chairs. You have an amazing employees that will go out of their way. Eduardo, Astrid, George and Lia to name a few! Also highly recommend paying extra for an upgraded room to have the best view in the city!
To be fair, this trip took place during the covid quarantine, so as we all know, nothing is "normal" right now. My daughter (17) and I needed to get a break from our house, and she had the day off, so I took the day off, and we headed to downtown SD for a little break. The hotel and everything around it felt pretty deserted. The only employees we saw during our stay was the 1 employee working the front desk. We took a tour of the hotel, and it was eerily quiet. The pool was closed at the time, there were no food services, and we did not see any other customers on our floor. With that being said, I'm curious as to why the hotel does not automatically upgrade all its customers to guarantee excellent reviews! Of all the empty rooms in the hotel, we were given room 1440. We had a slight city view and a view of the building (Courtyard) behind us. The tv was tiny and on a dresser to the side, so we really couldn't get all cozy in the bed and watch tv. The bathroom had a sliding glass door as its door that did not close completely. If one of us had had stomach issues, it would have been an embarrassing situation. I'm not sure what genius thought that door would afford any privacy! The room was clean and the shower was nice and hot with nice shampoo/conditioner/soap. When we checked in, we asked if we could have our check out bumped to 12. We were told we would have to ask in the morning, and we might have to pay extra. That caused us a good laugh....were they suddenly expecting a crowd to show up? We did ask in the morning, got the extended time, and did not have to pay. Overall it was a decent stay. However, since I'm pretty sure there were only about 10 people staying in that huge hotel, it would have been a kind gesture to put all of us in upgraded rooms.…
My wife and I usually stay at the Kimpton in Huntington Beach when looking for a night or two away, but decided to try this location. First of all, they are so safe, clean and careful during the time of Covid, that it made our stay that much more comfortable. The convenience of being able to text with the front desk to have things delivered to our door, was huge. Although the in room dining wasn't available, they make it so easy for food delivery to be handled which helped. The room itself was one of the sexiest rooms we have been in (Harbor View Spa Room) with a beautiful bathroom and balcony with a view. We can't wait to go again knowing how well they are handling Covid and all of the requirements to keep the guest and staff safe.
We stay here at least twice a month because our stay is awesome. Cam at the front desk couldn’t be a better person to greet us & always taking care of us. Will always be coming back because of him and the amazing rooms they have.
