I wanted to give the colonnade a five star rating but the fact is they have not earned a five star rating. It is a nice looking hotel from the outside, but when we check in you could tell that they were going through construction which was very apparent and distracting! When I made my reservations (directly with the hotel) there was no mention of construction being done, If I was told, I probably would’ve chose a different hotel. The best things about the hotel were 1. It’s a perfect location. 2. The rooms are large with big windows and lovely views. 3. Most of the staff were nice and accommodating! My main issues were~That the air conditioning in the room was not very good. The setting was either extremely high(cold) and sounded like a plane landing in your room or nonexistence. Nothing like sleeping in a room that’s warm and stagnant or cold. My other issue was is that the window treatments (drapes) were nice, but if you’re trying to sleep and you’re on the east side of the building, as soon as the sun rises(6am), the sun is directly in your room. There's very little darkening effect to the drapes! This is not good if you come from the west coast and the sun is coming in your room at 6 am in the morning which is 3 am West Coast time ugh... There’s no full length mirrors in the room and fInally, very early in the morning you can hear doors closing and people talking in the hallway. FYI- there’s no business center to print your boarding pass or check your personal emails and lastly if you want to bring a car be prepared to pay $45 a day for parking... I think because of the construction and some of the other issues, the Colonade is overpriced at $380. a nite!…
Stayed for 5 nights in a superior double room which had been recently refurbished. Pros: - updated modern room - good location opposite the Prudential centre and with a transit stop (green line) right outside - walkable to most places - lots of restaurants close by - 7 Eleven around the corner, coffee shops & supermarket within a 5 minute walk - room comfortable & clean, comfy beds - excellent free wifi - 2 bottles of water provided each day and in room fridge. The only negatives are: - although the room had been recently refurbished the doors don’t fit the frames. There was a gap around the main room door (room 803) and the bathroom sliding door didn’t close properly - our room backed on to the air conditioning unit in the corridor (literally the other side of the wall by the head of the bed). This was very noisy and every time it switched on and off during the night it made the headboard vibrate. - we had to ask twice to get the safe unlocked from the previous guests Overall I would recommend but if you are a light sleeper ask for a room away from the aircon in the corridors. Seriously they sound like planes taking off!…
Room was fantastic and very comfortable. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and very nice with guest services needed. Amenities are more than enough complimented with a great location. Shops, food, and sightseeing, all within minutes of the hotel.
When we arrived they had just finished renovating. The staff was incredibly professional and were able to answer any/all of our questions. The rooms were extremely nice; and very spacious. Norman, who worked at the front door really went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable and taken care of. It's not often you find such impressive customer service in big cities. I would go back to this hotel!…
So many hotels to choose from in Boston and by chance we settled on this one. It turned out to be a good choice as it was close to everything we wanted to see and had the benefit of the T just outside which meant we could take the underground quickly. The hotel was in the throws of renovations when we were there, and although this meant that some areas could not be accessed, this did not cause to much inconvenience. There was no building noise discernible either. Staff were good and helpful with directions etc. The one disappointment is that the roof swimming pool was closed, apparently it was outside the season, but with the temperatures in the 80’s it was difficult to understand this. There was also no bar available, presumably due to the renovations. There is a small but adequate fitness room available which we used. In common with other Boston hotels the price of a room is not cheap, but it was on a par with other hotels we considered. So overall happy with our choice. …
"See if you can get a room facing the Prudential Center (although the South End is pretty, too)."Read full review
