The rooms are large and the beds are comfortable but the hotel as a whole needs to be updated with the common areas as well as the room. The lighting in the bathroom needs updating as well. Service was great - people were so nice. The location is great.

We loved our two night stay here - I had asked for a quiet suite and we were hidden on the 12th floor in a corner room that was huge and very quiet! We needed to sleep and we did that easily. Great location and we walked at least six miles a day to get to museums etc but of...

Our second stay at the Taj --negatives points: Same horrible experience at Front desk, these people are NOT trained, arrogant, blasee and unable to give informations about the hotel, the room assigned or even worse recognition of returning customers. The amenities offered in room are bad quality for the price we pay. Some of the old waiter at breakfast shouldn't be...

The family headed to Boston for an overnight visit to kick off school vacation week. When we checked in the staff was curteous. We checked into our room which was tight because there were five persons and only two beds with no room for a cot/roll away bed. Husband had indicated 5 occupants when booking the room. Room was average....

Did an overnight for my significant other's birthday. The hotel is immaculate and beautiful. The service was excellent except for the concierge not sending some champagne up as requested and not letting me know that it wasn't coming. Food and drinks in the cozy bar were delicious. The room service breakfast was also delicious.

The Taj is a slightly older hotel, but very professionally managed. It has an excellent location at the beginning of Newbury Street on the Public Garden. The service is excellent, the gym, a bit outdated. Although there is no buffet breakfast, the service was very prompt, courteous, and the food was tasty. I recommend this hotel, given its location, professional...

Located right down town, I was able to walk and shop on Newburry St. The service and knowledge of the city was extraordinary. By our second trip to the front desk, they knew us both my first name. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at the Maj. I had read a review about paying for the view, so I did and it was worth every penny. The location is fantastic if you are interested in shopping (among other things). The staff is incredibly kind. I would stay there again when I'm in Boston

We spent three nights again this year for my birthday and had a fabulous room with a fireplace and a view of the Public Gardens. Sunday was a blizzard so we stayed in for the afternoon with a fire and good books. The staff are all nice and the rooms are very clean. We ate in the bar several times...

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
