Stay Report - 9/6 to 9/7 Location: The hotel is located on Portland Street just south of Causeway Streets in the TD Garden Area.  This means you're a quarter mile from the North Station MBTA and Commuter Rail Station and an easy walk to the North End.  You're also all of 8 minutes from Logan Airport.  The area around the hotel is a little scuzzy and you will likely encounter homeless people along with a lot of abandoned businesses.  Hotel: The hotel is tiny, even for an urban hotel.  There lobby has a closed bar and restaurant and a joke of a snack selection they call the Onyx Bodega.  It seemed to be mainly Pringles and bottled water.  On the basement level is a fitness center, ATM and a few other things.  The corridors are small and narrow as well.  Everything about this hotel feels like its sandwiched into its space in the worst way possible. Check In: On the bright side we were able to get into our room at 1:30 PM.  I was offered points or an item from the Bodega as a Spire.   Room: Really tiny.  As small a room as I've ever had at a Kimpton.  I was with my family and as soon as I saw the room I instantly regretted choosing the hotel.  There's barely room to get around the beds to use the desk and the bathroom is tiny.  It also took minutes for the shower to get hot.  Thankfully soundproofing wasn't an issue and the Wifi worked well.. This is the most disappointing Kimpton I've been to.  Nothing about it felt like a Kimpton...except the price tag I guess.  I will not be back.

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed 4 nights and the room was comfortable and the service was very good. We had a brief problem with air conditioning but it was fixed immediately. A great local bar is literally next door, and there is a good sandwich shop across the street. Many historical sites, the Quincy Market area, and TD Garden are all within easy walking distance. The staff was also helpful with recommendations on dining and public transportation.

My son lives nearby and we need a place to stay. This was two short blocks away. The hotel is in the middle of everything. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking options are nearby and there's a discount through the hotel. There was coffee and pastries in the lobby in the morning. There is a fridge in the room. The room was not noisy. I was pleased.

We’ve stayed in a variety of Kimpton’s and this was as bare bones as we’ve seen. Echo the other recent reviews regarding food/beverage. How do you run out of bottle water to purchase?? Perhaps it all starts with deciding to use a mini beverage refrigerator as your storage option in the lobby. Room was clean. Surprised to still see cleaning still on restricted schedule. Room was not very quiet so if your a light sleeper bring the ear plugs.

Kimpton Onyx in Boston off Portland street is TERRIBLE!!! I typically stay at 5 star or 4 star hotel. This place is a 3 star at best. Extremely disappointed in my stay here. Staff was fine but the service and amenities were absent. I learned checking into the hotel that the kitchen and bar was closed. This is something the hotel should communicate on their website or/and when you call to reserve a room. I couldn’t cancel my reservation without a fee. ALSO, when I arrived back at the hotel after being in meetings all day, my room wasn’t cleaned. The front desk told me you have to stay for 3 days for clean service??!! I’ve been traveling for months now and never encountered this type of service including when I stayed at another hotel in Boston. And the nerve to charge the same $197/night rate!
