The room was clean but the enamel in the bathtub was chipped away and looked terrible. The maid didn't take the dirty towels from the tub after our first night and the continental breakfast was set up half an hour late on the morning we wanted an early start.

Hotel was nice, clean and fairly good location. Although, it is called the Boston Common, it is several blocks or 10-15 minute walk to the Common, It was hard to locate the hotel. It is in a one way alley next to a public parking garage. You had to carry your bags up several steps to the lobby. The hotel... More

Hotel was the best price that I could find and it was ideal for our weekend getaway. Nothing glamorous just a room with bed and bathroom which is exactly what we needed. Didn't spend much time there, a block or so from two metro lines. Great hotel for the price in an expensive city.

Aged but cozy! Great location, safe area, fair price, and friendly staff. Continental breakfast left a little to be desired, but was convenient. Fairly quiet room. Fast elevator. Overall, would recommend this hotel for a weekend stay!

This is an old hotel, so while it has some very nice furniture pieces in the room, they are rather beat up which does give the room character. The room itself showed its age and poor maintenance. A hole in the bathroom wall was filled with a drain stopper. Also, the thermostat did not work well so the room was... More

It was a fine place to stay. Smaller room than I expected but we only needed a place for the night. The location was good and the staff was friendly. Might be time for an update to the rooms but breakfast was included and was an unexpected surprise. I would go back

I have to say after reading some of the reviews I was expecting a dark dingy hotel and even contemplated paying an extra £800 to move elsewhere before we left the UK however was pleasantly surprised with what we actually got. Yes it needs a paint and bathroom upgrade but the room was clean and bright and the bed was... More

Place is disgusting. Other peoples' hair on the walls in the bathroom, the tun backed up, and the entire place smelled of mold and mildew. Tube TV was the oldest I've seen in 10 years. Front door was impossible to find. DO NOT stay here.

We stayed for 2 nights - yes as in previous reviews the bathrooms are a little outdated; however everything was clean and fairly comfortable. If you plan on living in your room might not be roomy enough but for a mini-vacation was great. Right in the hub of things not far from the T we enjoyed our stay, staff was... More

The reception staff was wonderful, but the bathroom in our hotel was so disgusting with a filthy tub with cracks, and tons of mold in the grout. The bedroom was fine. The breakfast was awful with stale bagels, old danishes that looked like they were bought at the department store . For such a lovely location so close to Copley, we... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
