The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston - Downtown boasts a prime location cherished by guests for its accessibility to Boston's hotspots, including Chinatown and the theatre district. However, some travelers suggest that the rooms could benefit from refurbishments and improved cleanliness.
While opinions on service and amenities are mixed—with commendations for friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere alongside criticisms for dated decor and some encounters with less accommodating personnel—the overall sentiment is that the hotel offers satisfactory cleanliness and comfort, albeit the value proposition is occasionally questioned due to extra fees.

Hotel's Favourite
If you plan to use public transit in Boston this place is right next to a MTBA station. We took the subway from the airport to the airport, took about 30 minutes, but we also didn't have to wait long for each train. The hotel is comfortable, the bed was comfortable enough, a little hard for my preference, but not too bad. The room was clean and the staff was super friendly. We felt safe and liked the central location, but especially liked it's proximity to the MTBA.

Responded 9 Oct 2023
Hi There Yoper, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are delighted the hotel cleanliness and the staff helped to make your stay great. Being located next to Tufts Medical T stop located on the Silver & Orange lines of the MBTA is a wonderful resource to get around. We hope you enjoyed beautiful Boston and will come on back and see us again.

Stay her with friends for 5 night and were very happy we did. I always choose the Hilton hotels because their service is always friendly efficient. This hotel did not disappoint. Check in was slightly long but we did arrive early and the receptionist was fantastic trying to get us a room . The room was spotless and very cosy The coffee and tea facilities is always welcome after a long flight. We booked breakfast with our room rate and we are so glad we did. Breakfast was gorgeous a very good selection of hot and cold to suit everyone. The staff were very friendly and I even had one of the staff sing with me one morning. The hotel booked a trip for us and gave us all cookies as the bus was delayed but that didn’t matter. The bar and bar food is lovely also. I really had a lovely stay. I was charged for water and only noticed when I returned home. I contacted customer service to advise it must have been a mistake as I purchased my own water in CVS each day. I was advised a manager would contact me. I was contacted almost immediately and it was investigated and I was refunded by the front office manager with question. A wonderful service. When I’m next back I Boston I will be staying here without a doubt. Also note that the hotel is beside the train station and it got us everywhere. Harvard. Salem, Simon shopping outlet, Cambridgeside mall. Well done Hilton Boston.

Nice, well-appointed room in a tastefully remodeled old building. Each room had its own hvac rather than a noisy window unit. Staff were good, wifi good. The breakfast package on the weekends is a joke: you’re given a credit for Starbucks.
The valet parking is 55 a night, high even for Boston,
Rooms are not inexpensive but probably in line with Boston, Valet to room victim of short staffing.

The hotel is in a good location, 1 min walk to Tufs Medical Centre subway, 5 min walk to Chinatown with plenty of restaurants around.
However if you are a diamond member and you like to be recognised then avoid this hotel.
No upgrade whatsoever, no executive lounge, no drink voucher, nothing at all. At check in I asked if there are any upgrades available and of course the answer was no however online was every room type available to book. Must be a hotel policy or maybe they only upgrade certain diamond members .
It was my first time here and my last. There are other hiltons in boston and also cheaper .
Also the rooms are quite noisy, you can easily hear people from other rooms.
The breakfast was standard. The breakfast room is really really small so some guests will always have to seat in the lobby , walking up and down to take some food.

Last minute stay in Boston. Was looking for a place to get out of the cold while visiting Emerson during COVID restrictions. Booked the Doubletree because it was very close to campus and the Common. Check in was easy. Very friendly front desk. Touriya was very helpful and made us feel welcome. (Warm cookies are always appreciated at check in). Parked for $25/night at the Tufts parking garage next-door which was arranged by the hotel. Small onsite parking is $45 /night if you prefer. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. Coffee maker in the room but there is a Starbucks downstairs as well. COVID sanitized stickers on the door and remote in the room. Masks required in all areas of the hotel. Seem to be taking COVID precautions seriously which was welcome. Hotel is located in Chinatown which made finding meals very easy. Hotel is located directed across from Tufts and although helicopters landed at the hospital 2x during our stay, street noise was less than I would have expected. Would loved to have been able to see at show at one of the theater district venues but nothing is open just yet. Was able to check out of hotel using Hilton app, so no issues there. Will definitely stay again when visiting Emerson.

Overall the hotel was no better or worse than any other Doubletree property. In its favour, it does have a good location adjacent to a MBTA station, so getting around is easy and the hotel facilities are OK.
Two things to beware of though, the reception staff did not explain that the breakfast credit is "use it or lose it" on a daily basis, i.e you cannot skip breakfast today to have a better breakfast tomorrow. Actually using the credit is difficult, it's $18 per person per day, the hot breakfast items start at $15 and a cup of tea (1 tea bag and a carafe of hot water) will set you back $4.) So by the time you add the tax and tip you're easily over the $18... The breakfast we had was decidedly average, nothing bad about it but nothing to write home about either.
It wasn't explained at check-in but you can use the credit in the bar, so my advice would be to have breakfast somewhere else (Cafe Bonjour at 55 Temple Place is excellent) and use the $18 to buy yourself a couple of beers in the hotel bar.
My second piece of advice is to avoid room 116, this room has no window, only a narrow door looking into a six-storey light well. Even at midday in July the room was extremely dark and will cost you the same price as any other room. The picture of the room was taken at 2pm in mid-July, so you can see how dark it is (the curtains and blind are fixed so can't be opened any further than shown.) The second picture shows the window from the outside.
Would I chose this hotel again? If the price was right, and knowing to avoid room 116 (and presumably room 129 on the opposite side of the light well) and to swap breakfast for beer, I probably would.

The staff here is wonderful they really make you feel welcomed from the moment you approach the front desk. Love that! The rooms are always spotless which means there cleaning team members go above and beyond. The rooms big and spacious with clean lines help hide the fact the building is so dated and the TVs too small for the rooms. Who cares though about a tv because the location is so good! Overall this hotel top pick for me in the area, shes a goodie with a great staff and good location so you feel okay at checkout with the cost to the value of your stay!

There were four of us women traveling to Boston for a concert and weekend sightseeing. Upon arrival, we had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs to the lobby since the elevator was out of order. It was our during our entire stay. There was definitely no air conditioning, or very little in the hallways and it was always hot. The room was fine though. There was no housekeeping (which we knew because of COVID) but it didn't appear as if the room had been deep cleaned in a long time. There was a lot of dust in many areas. We kept piling our towels up in a corner for three days and had to go down to the front desk to ask for toilet paper, towels and washcloths. There were very few outlets that worked in the room and no USB ports. Our garbage cans were WELL overflowing by the time we left Sunday morning. Soda machines, all empty except one kind, the entire weekend. I know there's a pandemic and a worker shortage but there should have been protocols put into place to ensure we weren't living in our own filth for three days. We are not picky travelers and have stayed at other Double Tree hotels. This one served it's purpose an we had a fantastic time in Boston but we wouldn't stay here again.

We stayed here before the pandemic and liked it. This time? Not so much. There were just way too many things disappointing for a Doubletree hotel. First the good. Staff was very nice and helpful and willing to fix most of the issues. Parking was convenient self parking right outside the door. Check in was a little disappointing because there were no cookies. After we got to the room the real issues started. Cleanliness was severely lacking. A big issue when rooms should be extra clean due to the pandemic. First we found a hair right on top of the toilet bowl. We kind of just swept that away, but then we found another one on top of the bathtub. Then we found several all over the floor between the toilet and bathtub. Well, that's when we packed everything back up and asked to have the bathroom cleaned. They were nice enough and gave us a new room. Unfortunately on the same floor and the bathroom wasn't much better, hair again. At this point we just let it be, but it left an uneasy feeling about how much and how well they actually clean their rooms. The hotel no longer offers breakfast in their restaurant, very disappointing. The diamond member free breakfast is a joke, you get handed a paper bag at Starbucks but you have to choose between coffee and juice (you don't even get both) and get a yogurt and a dry croissant with some crackers. Considering other Hilton hotels that are cheaper offer you prepackaged warm breakfasts or prepackaged breakfast buffets, this was just very disappointing. Tried to check out in the app but wasn't able to (no idea why not, all she did was look in the computer and said you are all set) and had to wait in a long line to check out. Bottom line, we won't be back to this hotel until the pandemic is over, they seem to cut way too many corners compared to others hotel in the Hilton chain.

This hotel is rundown and dirty- not well maintained at all. The staff were rude and they were either unable to accomodate simple requests (ie towels) or did so with an attitude. I understand there are staffing issues in hospitality but that is no excuse for rudeness to customers or keeping a dirty hotel. Elevators were broken, hallways are filthy- just not what you’d expect from a DoubleTree. Rooms are small and old. Do not stay on the side overlooking the YMCA unless you want to wake up to screaming children every morning.
