To stay in a city and feel you are a part of the city while exploring a new place is what I enjoy when I travel. Everything within walking distance and James was a great host who made us feel at home in his city.

My husband and I stayed there because it was near our son's apartment. It is clean, beautifully decorated and in a wonderful neighborhood. The young man who helped us was very gracious and friendly. We felt well cared for. There is a delicious, award-winning bakery nearby.

The Gilded Lily is centrally located to all the sites of the city. It's clean and beautifully decorated. The owner, James, was extremely helpful in telling us what to see and how to get there. The Gilded Lily was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see, from the Freedom Trail to Fenway Park. We used Uber once to... More

What we love: taken care of with lots of privacy. We arrived, everything was clean, quiet, ready, beautiful, and we went about our business very independently. Somewhat residential neighborhood with great restaurants. Cool vibe.

Such an awesome place. The building was gorgeous. The location is breathtaking. The room, bathroom, kitchen and hallways were very clean. Stayed here for one night to go to a concert at Fenway, which was only a short walk away through what we found to be an amazing area of Boston. I would recommend The Gilded Lily to anyone wanting... This is one of the nicest B&B's we have ever stayed at. It is well located in the South End of Boston, on a quiet street, with Render Coffee shop around the corner. There are markets, dry cleaners and even a Blo hair Bar a few blocks away. It is very close to Northeastern University. James is a wonderful person... More

This place was a very nice abode for an evening. I wish we had been able to enjoy it longer, but as it was, we nearly missed checkout. Late arrival was no problem, but the 4 floor walkup was tough with a lot of luggage. Be advised - pack light!

We loved this place. Great room, comfortable, spotless, relaxing and lovely to stay in a B and B rather than a hotel. James made sure everything ran smoothly. The self serve breakfast was perfect, free wi-fi (as it should be- NY take note!). Lovely location with great restaurants and pubs nearby and a short walk to the gallery and shops.... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
