A fabulous B&B - the room was beautiful, the bed was huge and comfortable, and everything was immaculate. Breakfast was ideal to get you ready for a day sightseeing and it was handy having access to the kitchen and fridge in the evenings too. The location was good for us...we were able to walk the entire Freedom Trail on our...

The Gilded Lily has well appointed, beautiful rooms in a very upscale neighborhood! It's a great location and very easy to get downtown. The owner is very gracious and showed us some of the remodeling he had performed! Highly recommended!

Boston was the first stop on our honeymoon. After researching hotels and not wanting to pay the pricey cost for a standard/chain hotel, we started looking into other options. We came across The Gilded Lily site and were very impressed with the reviews and information, so we booked - and we are very pleased we did! We grabbed a cab...

We just completed a five day stay in Boston at the Gilded Lily. It was everything that we hoped it would be. The room was very comfortable, clean and the location was perfect. James, our host was very accommodating and helpful. His best recommendation was to walk as much as possible. This we did. The Gilded Lily is perfectly situated...

Very nice and clean period guest house in a good location for visiting Boston. The Parlour rooms are quite spacious and comfortable and the breakfast provided through a shared kitchen with another room on each floor works well. Coffee and tea freely available as and when you want it. Quite a reasonable cost compared to hotels in Boston whilst providing...

All the other reviewers are spot on. This is accommodation that is loved and looked after. Comfortable beds (Although a tad high!) and spacious bathroom - the rooms were clean and well decorated. James was very helpful in his recommendations of places to visit whilst in Boston and the location was fabulous. We walked literally everywhere! Also free wi-fi. The...

Staying at the Gilded Lily truly made an already great trip even better. The neighborhood is fantastic with lots of local shops and easy access to the subway. The rooms were clean, well decorated and fully functional. Having the shared galley kitchen was very helpful for water or a continental b'fast. James, the owner, welcomed us when we arrived and...

Comfortable, quiet, convenient, in an elegant brownstone in Boston's South End. Breakfast is simple continental style, from a private kitchen right outsider the door. Plenty of great restaurants for breakfast, lunch, dinner within a few blocks. I'd stay there again!

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
