This charming and clean bed and breakfast was just perfect for our 4 night stay in Boston. The owner was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions on things to do and see. We were able to walk to restaurants, the theaters and The Boston Public Library, Commonwealth Avenue and more. The kitchen which connected our two rooms was stocked with...

My husband and I stayed at the Gilded Lily for three nights and our stay was so lovely. We had one of the Garden Rooms and the room was very spacious, nicely decorated and comfortable. We liked that unlike other Bed and Breakfasts, the Gilded Lily is quite private. Also, the owner is very helpful and such a nice person....

We were delighted to stay in this beautiful bed and breakfast, even though we only had one night, and had to leave to beat the snow storm coming in. This would be a delightful place to be stranded though, with it's charming architecture and being nicely decorated and very comfortable. The cute kitchen would allow you to stay for a...

I couldn't have enjoyed my visit to The Gilded Lily more. The whole bed and breakfast (including the Garden Room) was immaculate and elegant. The best part of the trip, however, was James- the innkeeper. He was so gracious and spent a ton of time explaining different things I might like to do in the South End. Be sure to...

I stayed in the Garden Room 2 over the weekend. The Gilded Lily is located in a very nice area of Boston close to many restaurants and is ideal for exploring Boston. The room was very clean and cute with a large variety of food in the kitchen. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and set up of the room and...

The Gilded Lily was a wonderful base from which to explore Boston, a fabulous and interesting city. When we arrived James went over the map with us, pointing out where to eat, what to see and all the main sites. He was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble for him. The location is perfect and the bed etc....

The room and house were charming in an elegant way, I really liked the breakfast, and the location was excellent. I was in Boston for business and therefore only met the host when I left, but he was a very nice person.

We just completed a three days stay in Boston at the Gilded Lily. The room was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, spotless clean and the location was perfect. If you come with a car – be sure to book the parking space. Breakfast is enough to start your day. The kitchen is fully equipped and you can bring your own groceries....

The property and street is gorgeous, quintessential Boston brownstone. Our host, James, was so personable and focused on our interests, while giving us complete freedom to ourselves thereafter. Some beyond the norm tweaks to delight us and make the stay both more enjoyable and cost effective for time and expense were appreciated! Exactingly clean and well appointed, the room offered...

Roger, Thank you for your thoughtful review. I am so glad that you enjoyed Boston and were comfortable here at The Gilded Lily. I had to laugh about your double visit to "Cafe Madeline"... As I tell most all of my guests, "It is dangerously delicious.!" James

Staying in Back Bay

Neighbourhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
