My first time staying at Grove Park Inn it has been a wonderful experience. The experience is worth the money. The views are great, the spa is relaxing and large. The reason for the 4 star rating is due to the room they put us in. It was on the 4the floor facing a stone wall and trees it was dark and gloomy.

Hotel's Favourite
The drive from the highway to the hotel was interesting because you go through a subdivision. We saw a bear crossing sign and thought they were kidding until we talked to the staff. The hotel is beautiful with its huge stone fireplaces and spectacular views. We were in the main building on the third floor and there was a large atrium seating area called the Palm Court on this level. The elevators were the old style with an operator and actually located INSIDE the huge fireplaces! The rooms were older and furnished with older furnishings except for the king size bed, and part of the carpet on the far side of the bed apparently had not been swept because there were pieces of lint on it. I guess they were trying to keep everything as original as possible, but the tub was very old and had some glass shower doors rigged on top of it. I am short and it was tall, so it was difficult to get in and out of. The public areas and the view more than made up for any shortcomings of the room. We came here to check off a bucket list item, and it was so worth it!

We sincerely apologize for the lint you found on your guest room floor and will bring this issue to the attention of our Housekeeping Team. We're so glad you were able to check this off your bucket list and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

We enjoyed our mountain view room in the historic section of the inn on our second stay. We were able to open the retractable window screens and the windows for a fabulous unobstructed view. We even slept with just the screens since the night was cool. The staff were friendly and informative as expected (even the elevator operators). Every meal was excellent. The massages were good. Just make sure you let them know detailed expectations. The atmosphere was laid back with tranquil background music. Later in the day there was live guitar followed by a two piece band in the great hall until 10.

What a shame, great building, great views, spoiled by lack of service. No service after being seated for 15 minutes. Had to go inside to bar to get our drinks. Only 2 staff seen serving the area when they weren’t yapping. Overheard one staff person tell a patron they could go inside to get their own drinks. Witnessed two parties finally get up and leave. What a shame. Call to check staffing levels before going!

The GPI is one of our favorite get-aways. We have been here several times, and we always find something new to enjoy. It is not cheap; look elsewhere for cheap. The rooms in the older section are small and reflective of the era when they were built. Most travelers of today will find them wanting. However, on our first visit we found them quaint and interesting. Since then, we have chosen to stay in the newer rooms. So, be warned. On this visit, I had a great massage and spa experience. Had a great round of golf; the golf course was in very good condition. And all of our meals (again, not cheap) varied from very good to excellent. This is a totally unique place. It has no peers that I have found. Yes, it has its faults, but in my opinion the pluses far ourweigh the negatives. And, you will not find a more beautiful setting or nicer people. Expand your horizons a bit; check out the Grove Park Inn.
