Stayed in the hotel with family in April 2021. Very clean and comfortable, spacious rooms with high ceilings. Beautiful lobby. If you are into historical hotels this is a great choice. It is also right in the middle of historic Greeneville. It backs up to the Dickson-Williams mansion. One odd thing was that the phone rang a couple times overnight and there was nobody on the line. The front desk indicated this has been happening and they aren't sure of the cause. Wasn't a big deal, and the upsides definitely outweighed this issue.

Our stay at the General Morgan Inn exceeded our expectations. The room was very spacious with high ceilings. The staff was friendly and the restaurant had good food and seemed to be the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights. We also enjoyed our complimentary breakfast at Catalyst coffee shop next door. Tim from the restaurant was very informative about the local area. You can't beat the location on Main street just down from the "cannon ball" church one direction and The Andrew Johnson National Park the other.

This had been recommended to us by a local because of the historical value and location. I agree, the history and location is very nice but beyond that, I would not stay here again. We upgraded for the king suite that includes a microwave and refrigerator. Keep in mind this is during the pandemic. Next to the bed is a half eaten twix bar. The room and bathroom were gross - no cleaning in corners, dust was thick on the fixtures, and I seriously considered leaving. I brought the candy bar to the front desk and the clerk was very nice and apologetic and offered another room. Frankly, I did not think it would be any better so we declined. It's sad because this could be an amazing hotel but there is clearly no investment. I would not stay here again unless it was updated.

My main criteria is cleanliness. Visited this hotel in August. First room they gave us had a broken tub handle and dirty wash cloth on the floor. Second room not much better. Tub surround was all mildew. Carpets could use replacing or deep cleaning. Smelled musty. They could have scrubbed the tub surround during the pandemic when attendance was low. This didn't give me confidence that they sanitize anything. Dark rooms. Staff was nice. But please give them something to work with here. I really dislike giving a charming small town a bad review but you're the only hotel in the area and you jeopardize jobs in your hotel with low ratings.

Room Tip: Who knows. The hotel was not full and they gave us a substandard room.

The hotel is beautiful and well kept up. We had a King room and it was spacious. The outside courtyard is beautiful and was a wonderful place to sit and chat with friends after dinner. The lobby is grand and beautiful. The hotel is very clean. Kaycee at the front desk was so helpful and kind. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed our stay in beautiful historic Greeneville. I am hoping to return to Greeneville again thinking a girls trip would be fun. The General Morgan Inn is full of southern charm and is a beautiful hotel. The amenities are up to date and our room was very charming.
