We've stayed at the Wharf inn since we first visited SF back in the 80s. While it's starting to look a little worn, the price is still very reasonable. Rooms are simple, beds comfortable, bathrooms are clean, Wifi works fine and car parking is included which is a huge boost to the value. It is walking distance to everything, cable...

I spent one night here and it was very comfortable. Not too much luxury, but the bed was very comfy. The hotel is located very close to the pier 41 and 39 where the seals reside. You can walk in a round along the Piers and further through Chinatown and little Italy back to the hotel. Takes about 2 hours...

Rooms do not have a fridge or microwave which would have been really handy, No breakfast included with this hotel. Check in was smooth. Great room, bed was comfy, wifi was good but tended to go in and out at peak times. Hop on Hop off bus right out the front. Fisherman's wharf at your doorstep. Was a great place...

We stayed here during a two week trip to CA. San Francisco was our last stop before heading home. We chose this for location. You can't beat it! We had a rental car, but we never pulled it out of the parking lot once we arrived (so the free parking was nice). You can easily walk to many attractions. The...

I decided to avoid downtown and try the touristic area on this trip. LOVED the location. Easy walking to many great restaurants, right by the water, easy access to anywhere you want to go (trolley, bus, f train, walking etc). Hotel room was basic - but I dont need much more when I travel. The walls were thin - but...

The cons: Old, worn & outdated. The heater doesn't funtion properly. If you leave it on it will not stop. You have to continously turn it on and off. This is a plain motel room. The Pros: Parking is free which saves one $40 - $50 per night. The value of the location of is in an area where all...

We took our young grandchildren to SF because they wanted to take a bay cruise and go to China town. I looked up hotels close to Fisherman's wharf and this was what came up. I booked it totally based on location because that was what was important to us for this trip having the kids with us. The room was...

We have a family of four (2 teenage boys) and were looking for somewhere to stay close to Fisherman's Wharf, but also with free parking. We normally wouldn't stay somewhere that was a 2-star hotel....but I'm so glad we did! First of all...if you need shiny chrome and glass and everything modern...this is not the place for you. One word...

Wharf inn Cleanliness This hotel/inn was very clean both in the room and the reception area. Noise levels The rooms are not noise proof, however at the time we stayed the noise level was minimal, people pulling suitcases past the room and general street traffic(our room was at the back of the hotel) if you have inconsiderate people in the...

Here are a few tips for this hotel.

1. No, They do not have A/C at this hotel. The reason for this is simple. Older places like this were built without. We are not the only hotel in San francisco that doesn't have it. You might need to check as the weather in SF is generally cool if not cold with a few days in the 80's per year but those are rare.

2. The hotel is only pet friendly to an extent. If you bring a pet and the 4 rooms that actually allows them are not available then you might get turned away. The reason for this is that anytime there is a pet in a room, that room needs to be closed for 3 days and can not be sold. Please make sure you call the hotel and check. And no, there is no grassy area at all. The place was not built to be a pet friendly facility. It only is because so many people are adamant on bringing their pets on vacation. The other thing is, that if you do bring a pet with you, that pet can not be left unattended anywhere on the property. This includes in your room, or in your car. If you leave the property, the animal must go with you. Also, there is a 25$ fee per pet per night. There is a limit of 2 pets and must be under 40lbs.

3. Parking: There are 39 spaces to 51 rooms. If you bring 2 cars with you and want to park them both, that unfortunately can't happen. The motel allows 1 car per room. If the lot is full you can still get free parking but...you will be double parked somewhere that isn't actually a parking space and the front desk will be required to take your keys. this is only in the cases of moving you into a spot should one come open, or moving your vehicle to let someone out that you are blocking in.

4. It is an older place. It is more of a motel. It opened in 1960. so its not a brand new place. However, the new owners are slowly working on upgrading it. Most of the rooms have gotten new furniture and mattresses in the last 2 months. The rooms are very basic. There again is no a/c. No fridges or microwaves. If you want a fridge you will need to book the Penthouse suite as it has a full kitchen. The other thing is that you might see a room on one of the online booking sites that shows a sofa in the room. There is a total of 2 rooms in the facility that has one. If that's what you want, you need to put in a request for it, though there is still not any guarantee you will get it. The motel does not guarantee that any requests you make will be met.

5. , if you make a reservation for a King size bed, and then check in wanting a room with 2 queen beds. We can't guarantee that will have that for you. If you want a room with a balcony, then that is what you will need to book as it is a separate room type from a King. Early check ins may or may not be able to be met and an . Again, you may request anything you wish, but the hotel can not guarantee any request. your best bet is to always call the hotel either during or after your reservation and see what is possible and what is not.

6. IF YOU WANT TO GET TO ALCATRAZ, book your tour several weeks in advance or you may not get in at all.
