I walked into my room and saw the light bulb was blinking, the bellmen helped to contacted the tech guy to change it. I also found there was a piece of carrot on the floor and I noted the front desk. ( I checked in around noon time, hotel contacted me the room is ready around 5pm, I got the room key and enter the room after 9pm. It should be enough time to prepare the room). During my 3 nts stay, I found the toilet room door is very dirty ( please see images) which I had replied the GM who emailed me with the welcome letter about all these details since Sep 5th but one month past with no one reply or care! I felt unbelievable and very disappointed that this is from Ritz-Carlton, one of the top hotel brand in the world. I don’t mind the building is old. But this time I have doubts with this brand… Besides all these, on site stuff were friendly.

The service here was meticulous. Easy and casual, not pretentious, but always warm, friendly, and on-point. Every member of the team was gracious. They could teach a Masterclass in how to treat guests.

now operated by marriott, Ritz-Carlton hotels are not what they use to be, the San Francisco property is no exception, our room was no different than a Hyatt or Hilton and three times the price. San Francisco has very few true five star hotels, The Four Seasons (both embarcadero and main hotel) and the St Regis are the only three. For over $800 a night you can do better. I agree with the previous review that this hotel is a bit “off”.

We are currently in house and I must say this is a strange Ritz Carlton hotel. Service feels off, we were out of the room most of the day but housekeeping never made up the room. The lobby gift shop which always had a sign that stated “be back soon” was never open and the concierge seemed annoyed that he would need to get a key to open it. Our one bedroom suite was odd, the bedroom area had no window and felt like sleeping in a large closet. The furniture was airport hotel quality and overall in need of a refresh. The concierge lounge, which was modernized in some refit, felt like an airport business class lounge. Concierge lounge staff were very nice. Food was meh and boring. The note in the a room that if you take the soap you’ll be charged $50 is tacky. For $2,000+ a night a disappointment of a hotel, hardly memorable

We experienced great service. Thank you.... Roberto (engineer) Jordon (front desk) Amber (concierge) Joel (door man) Glad they gave us two bars of soap, one for the sink and one for the shower (I prefer bar to liquid soap) . Toiletries included jumbo sized (not individual packages) of shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, and liquid soap: Philoykos brand. (The French trend continued with Dammann tea in the dining room). In room amenities included robes, slippers, mouthwash, Nespresso coffee maker/coffee, organic tea, bottled water, etc. Our room was large, comfortable, and clean. I especially liked that the large bathroom with two sinks included a toilet behind another door (water closet?). There were only two minor things I didn't like. (1) The tv was restricted - you can't connect any devices; you can sign into Netflix, but not most other streaming services. (2) You must step into the tub to take a shower, at least it's low tub/small step. Our room included a $64 credit for breakfast for two; note that this is the cost of breakfast for one: pancakes, bacon, orange juice, and tea/coffee. We had an additional credit that we used at the bar, but should have saved for breakfast! Breakfast is served in the dining room and lunch/dinner is available at the bar. The food was excellent and very attractively presented - the cauliflower appetizer is a perfect example. My only complaint is that I wanted more, more cauliflower and more of the black sesame sauce. 99% of the staff wore masks; Masks are optional for guests and most did not wear them, even in the elevators. There is no outdoor dining.

From the moment we pulled up to the Ritz Carlton in San Francisco, to the time we checked out, I couldn't have been more impressed at so many aspects of our stay. This, during a time where we all feel that perhaps many highly rated hotels are lacking in some ways, i.e., poor maintenance, tired upkeep, lack of personnel, etc., primarily due to the pandemic, which we seemed to have accepted. Well, you wouldn't know it here at this hotel. Upon arrival, the door attendant, Jaime set the tone. I will title him as the Director of First Impressions. Jaime was helpful the entire stay from arrival, during stay and upon departure. He set the tone for a stay at The Ritz...and the rest of the team at the Ritz didn't disappoint at all. At check in, I was greeted by Jason Ellis...a professional that greeted you in a personal way. He too was part of our stay several times while we were there. Our room was clean, to Ritz standard and so comfortable. The food in the club level and drinks were perfect. The concierge on club level, Starsky, was just such a nice accommodating person. So, the hotel in tip top condition, the staff just incredible, the location of this hotel within the city is perfect. Great restaurants all over the city within 5-10 minutes. We were surprised with a bottle of champagne and strawberries and chocolate in our room as it was our 8th wedding anniversary. Room with a view, not sure what else I could say. Amazing stay and I thank Jaime, Jason and Starsky as the stand out persons for their incredible service. Wonderful, wonderful stay!!!

Truly a fantastic hotel in a great location of the city. I stayed in September 2021, a time when many hotels were not offering most of their usual services, yet this hotel had twice daily housekeeping and room service. The staff were exceptional. We ordered room service for breakfast each day and most evenings and the room service attendants knew what we liked and anticipated our requests after the first day. I commented how amazing their homemade ketchup was and when returning to the room later that day we found a personalized note with the recipe and two jars of the ketchup to take back home.

We’ve stayed here a few times and always had a good stay hence returning again, I think the rooms are beginning to get a bit tired now and the food isn’t what it used to be, room service menu isn’t as good as previously and is no longer available 24hrs which is disappointing when you travel from so far away as you often wake up in the middle of the night starving whilst acclimatising, feels like the Ritz as lost it’s Ritz

Excellent location (a short walk from Union Square and China Town), comfortable rooms and the outstanding service that you expect from Ritz Carlton. We had a minor issue with our room that was dealt with brilliantly by the front desk. Ritz Carlton never disappoints.

We stayed one night parking included 8th floor club level. 9th top floor is also club level but you have to go to 8 for the club itself (dedicated stairs or elevator). Hotel is very well located next to Chinatown and easy access to pier 39 and fishermen’s wharf. Hotel itself is in a historic marble building that used to be an insurance trust. Lobby is very nice and restaurant and bar looked good too but we didn’t try them. Valet for car service was excellent and included in our rate. Room was average - like a nice marriott, but not really special in any notable way - beds average, furniture average showing some wear, window ok, no separate tub from shower, curtain not glass door, etc. Main issue was club presentations were seriously lacking for pm hors d’oeuvres and desserts and only average for breakfast and lunch. Pm hors d’oeuvres were 4 types of bruschetta and 2 types of shrimp. Nothing else. Desserts were 4 types of shot glass presentations and seemed a little old. No fruit tarts, no pastries, etc. Not special at all. Breakfast average marriott quality - sufficient but nothing special. Lunch included soup, some cold salads and mini-paninis. Probably the best of the 4 presentations we saw. Weird you have to request a beer and can’t self serve, soft drinks water and wine and sparking wine are self serve available (wine bottles in $10-20 retail range). Room with tax was $1100/night. Expected more for this price. Note - service staff in club did their best under the circumstances and were very nice offering cookies and tourist advice and were the only aspect of the club that met our Ritz service expectations. Final comment - concierge for hotel doesn’t start until 10am so if you need help in the morning “the day of” you better lock it down the night before.
