Great location, and a lot plusher than I was expecting, staff were friendly & attentive. Rooms were a good size, comfortable & clean. There were tea & coffee making facilities in the room, and also on the top floor. I was sceptical about our stay in San Francisco, due to the number of homeless, but was glad we chose to stay at this hotel. Also very competitively priced.
Stayed in 2 adjacent rooms as a family of 5. Hotel has no restaurant but surrounded by lots of options. Close to Powell Street Station (direct line to SF airport on Bart). Short walk to Chinatown & Street Car ride to Pier 39. Hotel itself is fine - rooms as one would expect & staff helpful.
The concierge and bellmen here are absolutely wonderful. Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The front desk staff was also lovely, we just didn't have as much interaction with them. The upholstery in the room was definitely in need of replacing as were the linens. We were also disappointed that we could not get our room cleaned after 2 days. They only clean your room every 4th day and we only stayed 4 nights. We did request and receive additional towels and they did offer to pick up the trash. The location is great. I would probably not stay here again unless they had updated the hotel.
Having stayed in SF on many occasions, this is amongst the best hotels We booked Club and it was an excellent-sized room with everything you could need. Never a fan of the SF bath/tub combo, even this was far and above the norm, size-wise Bed was huge and very comfortable, so huge that I didn’t see my better half for two days Staff was lovely, esp. Bill, always smiling! We had access to the roof patio with unlimited coffee The 1/2 star deduction is because I felt that Club level ought to have come with a few snacks etc
We stayed here for 5 days with 2 adults and 2 kids. The “suite” sleeps 4 but the pullout bed is not great, and the suite is designed for 2. They clean every 3 days but stocked the room (plates towels coffee, shampoo, etc) for 2 people for 1 day. There were apparently smoking rooms on our floor near the elevator, so the first thing we smell getting off the elevator is terrible. The smoke made its way into our room at least once. There is a hot tub for the adults to enjoy but not much for the kids. The location is not as great as I hoped. It’s rather loud at night, and not central to my favorite parts of San Francisco. If I could do it again I would stay out of downtown, maybe near golden gate park. Parking is $50/night. The staff is friendly.
From check in to check out the Donnetello did not disappoint! We’ve never had a friendlier staff throughout our entire stay. The rooms are clean, large and well stocked. The location is convenient to everything, cable cars, Union Square, shopping, restaurants and the sights. The hotel is secure and well appointed. There is a wonderful restaurant with live music in the building plus entertainment all around the area. We would love to stay again!
The Donatello is great hotel with spacious rooms. The staff is very attentive and fast to fulfill requests. The furniture in the rooms are comfortable including the bed. The location is very convenient. It’s close to many restaurants, shopping and public transportation. Many are within a five minute walk. We would definitely stay at The Donatello again!
Staff was great! Big room. Everything was very clean. The rooftop terrace was a big plus. And we couldn’t have asked for a better location- easy walk from the BART, Chinatown and North Beach. Found some good restaurants within a couple of blocks. Would definitely stay here again.
The start of our California road trip. As we’d done SF before, we decided to stay for one night only. But our room was so nice it would’ve been good to have a few more nights to make the most of it. Huge room. Comfy bed. Good Union Sq location. Would definitely stay here if we did SF again.
Friendly, professional staff the Donatello is just five minutes from Union Square. Our room on the fifth floor was large, nicely furnished and had access to a shared balcony area. The Donatello is a real gem and we would definitely stay there again.
