Awesome experience, will be using this place any time I visit SF. It's a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. Nice staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds. Loved this place. The bottom floor has a pool table, a huge kitchen, a movie room, and quite a bit of other stuff.

We stayed as a couple in a private room. I have been in many hostels all over the world and I can assure that this one doesn't miss out on anything. Great facilities and service! A better variety of activities and tours offered would give them the full score.

Pros: Good location. A few blocks away from Union Square/Powell Station. Cons: I was particularly irked by one female staff who made me unnecessarily wait a couple of times because she was busy flirting with other customers. I met a nice roommate who said he observed the same thing saying, "yeah she was always doing that." He had another complaint...

Cool areas to get to know people from all over the world, very clean and a lot of bathrooms. By the way, the bathrooms are for a single person, each...what I liked! Cool area, could go by foot to a lot of places.

Hostel was recommended to us by friends. Stayed here for 5 nights with my husband. We were in a private room with an en suite. Room was smallish but perfectly amenable. Bathroom was clean and towels provided. There's a hairdryer in the bathroom. Breakfast is complimentary and is a self serve system. You can make your own pancakes and there's...

The hostel is a really solid one. The building is nice and well decorated and it's located in an excellent spot. They offer free breakfast, have a pool table, foosball table and something goes on every day. The staff were friendly and thorough. The price is really high, but I guess that's San Francisco for you, and that's the only...

The staff at USA Hostels are friendly, helpful and very approachable. They are quick to answer any questions and offer suggestions as to where you like to go. I walked to Pier 39 from USA Hostels and took me about 45 mins to get there. It is a nice walk with lots of hills and you will mostly avoid the...

Thanks for your feedback. We'll talk with our walking tour guide and see if we can explain better that part of the tour requires using public transport. We'll also see about stating the length of the tour. Cheers.

We stayed in a single bedroom with a full bed. The hostel was pretty and VERY clean! I never found a shower or bathroom dirty! The room smelled amazing and the breeze that came through the window was incredible. The bed was so damn comfty! I never wanted to leave it! The staff was friendly and helpful. They do many...

Thanks for your great reviews...and compliments on our oranges! :-) We're glad you liked our private room. All were recently renovated; we're glad you found the bed comfortable. We check every person's key card on entry for their own security. Sometimes a guest makes a new local 'friend' and tries to bring them back into the hostel. With most guests...

The Hostel its self was nice. Room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom facilities were clean and were shared for both genders. Staff were friendly. The only thing that was a let down was the location. Downtown is pretty horrible and I would not stay in the area again.

We're glad you liked the hostel, but it's unfortunate you did not like the area. We're very close to many tourist sites, walking distance to Chinatown and Japantown, near the cable cars and there's shopping and restaurants just outside the doors. We provide a variety of tours so that guests uncertain about their surroundings can get familiar quickly. If downtown...

The room was spacious enough, the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The location was very good and close to many shops and restaurants. Union sq is down the street. There are many buses close by. The breakfast was delicious.
