I didn't have any problems. Much cheaper than all the rest. And it's in the heart of Chinatown. Just a few blocks from Union Square - yet I never seen any homeless out front like everywhere else. So less stress. There's also a Starbucks only 2 blocks away. I rented a single room with 2 double beds and we also...

If its location you want, Grant plaza is right in the middle of the nice part of China Town, close to transport and restaurants. Our room stank of mould and we had to leave the windows open! pretty basic small rooms, but we spent nearly no time there so it wasn't a massive issue. If you want a hotel that...

When you make your reservation, make sure you tell the desk clerk that you want a room with windows that both open and are not frosted glass. My room had a window in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. Neither opened!!!!! Does this even comply with SF fire codes? I can't imagine that it does. The windows overlooked an...

Do not stay here if you're expecting upscale lodgings in an expensive neighborhood. But, if you want reliable, clean rooms at a very reasonable price, and happen to like neighborhoods with ethnic flavor, this is a great choice. When traveling by myself, I regularly choose this property over the better known establishments in the Financial District, or along Van Ness...

Small, small rooms but very clean and right in the middle of everything, especially if you purchase a muni pass. California St cable car 1 block away, Union Square is a 5 minute walk, and Bart Powell Station is within walking distance too. Right in China Town so it's a bit noisy but you just get use to the city...

Okay, so it was my first time in San Francisco, and the trip my Mom and I booked was for 5 nights. The small room and dirty sheets might not have bugged me as much if I had been traveling with friends -- but I mean, at least when I travel with my parents, it usually means I won't be...

I stayed at the Grant Plaza for three nights and it was the perfect place for me. I was traveling alone and felt very comfortable and safe here. ** Very comfy beds - fresh crisp sheets ** Small flat screen TV mounted on wall ** Bathroom is in need of renovation, but it was clean and soap was provided in...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Grant Plaza for 6 nights at the end of May of 2012. We're from NYC, so we immediately like this place because it is located right smack in the middle of downtown SF, where all the action is. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Upon our request,...

Chinatown
As the oldest in North America, San Francisco's Chinatown is an exotic experience. A unique neighbourhood decorated with colourful shops, historic streetlights, hanging lanterns, and pagoda roofs awaits behind the stone-carved dragon gates. Feast on dim sum at the tea houses, or meet the locals who gather at historic Portsmouth Square to play chess or practice Tai Chi. Fish markets, produce stands, tourist shops, jewelry stores, fortune tellers, temples and restaurants come together to create a world unto itself in this historic neighbourhood.
