The past few years when we traveled to San Francisco we've stayed at the Cornell Hotel de France. It is a great location, comfortable bed, great staff, yummy breakfast, and interesting place. I highly recommend it.One year SF had an earthquake the first night we were there and we felt safe. It is close to about everything you want to...

Maybe a bit over the top in French history decor, but this place is so charming and warm. Staying here allows you to loose yourself in a little fantasy. My room was small, but comfy and the kind of room you need after a tiring day touring the City. The basement dining room is like a mini museum and I...

My mother, sister and I stayed at this hotel for a girls' weekend in the beginning of July. We so enjoyed our stay. It is very close to a lot of tourist activities in San Francisco without being right in the middle of things. Right on the trolley line, and a short walk to pick up buses. The hotel itself...

I have stayed at the Cornwell Hotel de France on several occasions over the years and have always enjoyed the experience. Unlike the huge chain hotels all over San Francisco, this one is small, friendly and much more welcoming. The hotel is well-located in the middle of the city, a short walk away from many key sites. Its rooms are...

We were given a room on the 4th floor. The charming antique elevator rode us past two floors which (we noticed upon walking back down later) were filled with paintings and posters from 20th century French artists. We found it a delight that "China town" was only 2 blocks away from the hotel. The breakfast was simply delicious, made to...

Small french hotel.Staff is helpful and friendly. Rooms are small, clean, and with everything you need. In the summer months of August early September, the rooms can be a bit warm because they don't have AC, and the ceiling fans can't be adjusted to rotate in the right direction. On the plus side you get a real sit down breakfast...

This is a charming and homey little hotel 2 blocks off Union square. It is the perfect place to stay while in the city as it has all the essentials at an affordable price. Parking garage is across the street. The hotel is an older building with a turn of the century feel- it is decorated accordingly- it is not...

We stayed at Hotel de France in 2011, and loved it, wanting to return ! We especially like the location, as it is two steps from the cable car, bringing us down to Union Sq, where we caught the street car on Market!! I would call de France a Boutique Hotel, offering a quieter venue; with a quaint comfortable lounge...

First, there is no air conditioning. It really is not a problem. Second, it is an old building with older amenities. The location is perfect. Corner of Bush and Powell just steps away from wonderful food, great shopping, and cable car stops. The prices are very reasonable to downright low. The staff is pleasant and your stay includes a cooked...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel, in a "cozy" room, for two nights. If you're expecting a full service, luxurious hotel, then you're going to be disappointed because this isn't it. If you're expecting a super large room with wonderful views, then you're going to be disappointed again. If you're looking for designer furniture and decorator inspired features,...
