A trip to SF was finally on the calendar after trying to get there for many years. We were staying for 9 nights because we were going to be in town for two back to back 49ers home games. After much deliberation we decided to stay at the Hotel Carlton. Prices in SF can go through the roof, esp. when...

The Carlton is an older, very pretty hotel with typical smaller rooms and friendly services. The pricing should be excellent if you search for vacation packages, especially those that combine air fare with a stay. I paid $800 total for 7 nights in this hotel and round trip airfare from South Florida to San Francisco, and cancellation insurance with Expedia...

We stayed here as part of a large tour group and found it to be one of the nicest hotels on the tour. It was in a fantastic location for us and being so close to Van Ness Avenue made it so easy to catch public transport to AT&T park. The room was very clean and neat. The only fault...

From the first step into this colorful, eclectic wonderful hotel I felt at home. Theo & Gio were on staff that day -both very professional, informative and personable. The whole staff from front desk to cleaning were friendly & helpful--The rooms were cozy ,charming &relaxing-not over the top but warm and inviting--wine by the fire place each evening gave you a chance...

We stayed two nights, thank god I brought ear plugs.... if it wasn't for the wonderful staff, I would not give it three stars. Great service. The hotel is very old, but well taken care of... vintage comes to mind. No A/C by the way. The walls are paper thin so hear everything from your neighbor. Please also note that...

I came back mainly because of the value you get at the Carlton. It is located a few blocks away from the main shopping area, bordering a quite dodgy neighborhood. Apart from that and the fact the walls and doors are paper thin (bring earplugs) it is a great hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Free wifi is always...

Spent 4 nights here after a luxury cruise so it was going to be a bit of a let down however good! The staff were friendly and willing, the free wifi was a bonus. The location is a little further away from the touristy spots and restaurants than other similar places but nevertheless walkable, if you didnt object to vagrants...

The room has good size, but the furniture are old and so is the carpet. The hotel has a lot of new age oriental mystic figures/pictures. In my room there is a large picture of Buddha head, which is really creepy. The Wi-Fi speed is extremely slow, the wired connection is not much better. Some staffs are very friendly, while...
