My travel agent booked me at this hotel because all of the hotels in San Francisco were booked for a major conference. The rooms are nothing like the pictures that they have on their website. The rooms are old and worn. They have comforters on the bed instead of sheets covering a featherbed; who knows when they ever change the...

Thank you for taking the time to post a review about your stay at Hotel Carlton. I am sorry the hotel was not up to the standard you were expecting. In the next few months we will be completing updates to the hotel and guests will enjoy new flat panel televisions in all guestrooms and new carpeting in all common...

Acabei me decidindo pelo Carlton e não me...

We were a party of 13 staying for 3 nights at the end of a 10 night 3 city tour of America. The staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble, the rooms were lovely. The daily wine tasting between 5.30 and 6pm is a wonderful idea.I would recommend this hotel when staying in San Francisco.

The staff is friendly and courteous, but it is downhill from there. The owners have done a good job of cosmetic repair, but it is an old building that is worn out and it shows, from the elevators to the doors to the walls, etc. This must be the bottom of the Joie de Vivre hotels, because others are markedly...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Carlton for 6 days Dec 7th-13th 2011. The hotel was very clean and we loved our room. A couple of nights we came back with bottles of wine and they sent up a corkscrew right when we asked. When we checked in, the concierge, Theo was awesome. He gave us a map and...

This was a perfect choice of hotel to stay in while in San Fran this month. The staff was so accommodating, professional and friendly! We had easy access to the attractions through out the city and the staff helped with arranging reservations, cabs and recommendations on food and fun. The hotel was very fresh, clean and brilliantly decorated with a...

Good hotel for first visit in San Francisco, clean rooms and comfortable bed (request for king at high level). Walking distance to Union square and cable car to Pier 39. Very friendly efficient staff and well mannered, no problems. Breakfast area also the Saha restaurant at night, although no bar area. However there was complimentary "wine evening" with occasional music...

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Carlton Hotel for 3 nights in November 2011. This hotel is very different with a dated but very quirky style. The rooms are a generous size, very clean, with adequate lighting, satellite tv, a coffee maker and a room safe. It's very cosy, and has a warm feel to it. The view from...

Hotel Carlton is just a few blocks from lots of things San Francisco: Nob Hill with the Big Four Hotels and exquisite views; Union Square and shopping; cable cars and easy transportation connections. We stayed at the Moorpark Hotel in San Jose (also a Joie de Vivre property) and the staff there helped us connect with the Carlton. The staff...
