I only stayed 1 night but next year I'll stay longer. The hotel is in a great place, downtown in the midst of everything. The hotel front desk was extremely helpful, printing out instructions on how to get places using public transportation. The room was clean, bright and functional. I didn't mind sharing a restroom, I didn't even see anyone...

This hotel looks cool from the street, but it has small rooms, no AC, beds are pretty old, and water pressure stopped in the middle of my shower each morning, then restarted after 30 seconds. I was in a jam to find a room this trip, so it was ok for a couple of nights, but I would not stay...

The Herbert Hotel was clean, nicely remodeled and the staff was friendly. We stayed in an economy room with shared bathroom. My only complaint is the bathroom was always being used and I had to wait every time and it was so tiny there wasn't room to put my things down when getting ready in the morning. Overall my experience...

Great location, but there are nicer hotels around which offer better ammenities for the same price or less. I expected more for the friendly atmosphere, but staff is always too busy to be warm. Rooms don't have a/c, just fans.

Very basic amenities, but you can't beat the funky charm and convenient location!! Loved it!! Walking distance to the Bart station, cable car, Muni and the shopping!! Directly across the H&M store on Powell! Clean, no frills, comfortable.

Our 3-night stay this June was very disappointing. We arrived late, and upon entering our room, noticed the adjoining door in our room was wide open on our side. The handle was completely missing from the door (thus couldn’t be shut nor locked). The door that belonged to the adjoined room was shut and locked. I went down to the...

Great stay, friendly staff, comfortable bed, fan in room no air con, small fridge, own bathroom, right amongst the shops, the iconic trolley, restaurants, bars, small supermarket right next door - excellent location. We arrived in from the airport on the BART and it was a very short walk up the street to the hotel - perfect.

There is no A/C in the rooms, which forces you to raise the windows for the room to be cool. In turn you're exposed to the noisy bustle of tourists, trolley cars, and sanitation engineers all night long. When I asked for a fan there weren't any to be made available to guests. I thought $200 a night would have...

This hotel is so well located on powell street. We were lucky enough to have a street facing room so we had a pretty good view from the fire-escape. A short walk from the BART, and with decent facilities. Clean and fairly quiet. A shower with so much water pressure it felt like drowning. The room did get a little...
