Receptionists very unpleasant. Suite NOT as described. Staircase giving access to road from suite, very insecure. Door missing on bedroom. Absolutely terrible, we did not stay as we all felt unsafe. Not recommended

We stayed here because of its proximity to the UCSF Medical Center. This was our first trip to the center and didn't know what to expect. The staff were beyond nice. The room, while clean, was extremely small and dated. View was of the fire escape...questioned whether or not to leave the window open at night. Hotel was definitely clean...

It's a nice building convenient for Haight Ashbury region but there are several things to note. It describes itself as boutique but chintzy is probably more accurate with plenty of doilies and silk flowers. Random classical music piped at all times in common areas. The breakfast room has the kitchen door open and you can hear all of the noise...

I stayed at the Stanyan Park Hotel with my son, two sisters and brother-in-law. I loved this place! The location was excellent and the two bedroom suite PERFECT for our group. The suite was clean and roomy and we had plenty of room so we never felt like we were on top of each other. I also loved the location....

What a pleasant surprise. This hotel was much more like a home, than a hotel. From the warm and welcoming staff, to the very comfortable accommodations, this was a very comfortable place to stay. There was a very nice breakfast (continental with hard boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, and waffles, and a nice assortment of beverages. Additionally they have a Tea...

Not a chain, has some style and some class, definitely the hey day seems past, but it did the trick and didn't gross us out (I'm pretty picky). I just really didn't want to be in Union Square. Instead we got Golden Gate park, the Haight, and Twin Peaks right around the corner. The whole foods a block away is...

I had an appointment at UCSF, 5 hour drive away from home, so needed a place to stay. I made reservations through the hotel because UCSF'S website said to ask for a discount, but they don't offer a discount for patients. Pros: Elevator, very good continental-plus breakfast, fairly close to Parnassus medical building, desk clerks helpful, especially Janet, comfortable beds,...

There are few hotels in this area of SF, and most of the choices are unacceptable. Some of the rooms at the Stanyon are very small (check closely before you book), but the larger rooms are comfortable. The staff is very helpful, and the amenities (breakfast, evening snacks) are good. This hotel will not knock your socks off, but then...

Usually, I like smaller boutique hotels, but this one missed the mark. When I initially inquired about the hotel, Janet was so friendly on the phone, that I thought it was a winner. Well Tony, the person who checked me in, was an unhappy person, who should not work in the hotel industry. They were strict on the 3pm check...

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
