The Parsonage is an architectural treasure in the heart of San Francisco's historic Hayes Valley, within easy walking distance of the opera house and some of the city's most dynamic restaurants. The elegant bedrooms have excellent queen beds, multiple pillows, superior linens, a marble shower, and good light; some have working fireplaces and/or views; one has a Victorian claw-footed bathtub. With superb access to public transportation, it is within blocks of highway 101, and walking distance of BART.

Pros and cons list...oh, wait. There are no cons to a stay at The Parsonage. Position was so central to everything and public transport so easy. Comfortable room. Gourmet breakfasts. Beautiful home. Welcoming parlour to relax in. But the reason we will stay again is more to do with how incredibly at home we felt. We were welcomed like old friend. Joan and John were not there the whole time but their “locum” was wonderful. And there are dogs!!! Thank you everyone at The Parsonage. You made our first trip to Sam Francisco so special

My wife and I stayed at The Parsonage for two nights in late October 2018. The house is exquisite, clearly the recipient of many years of love and care. John and Joan were superb hosts. The location was walking distance to the concert halls where we attended a couple of concerts, and there were many fun and fine restaurants in the area. We have stayed in many B&Bs throughout the U.S. and Europe, but the Parsonage was truly one of the finest that we have ever experienced. Looking forward to a return visit!

My fiance and I live in San Francisco, but stayed at the Parsonage Bed and Breakfast for the weekend. It was such a great staycation! John and Joan were the most gracious hosts and made us feel so comfortable - it truly felt like a home away from home. My fiance and I had never stayed in a Victorian house before, and it was such an experience! The decor of the home makes you feel like you have stepped back in time into old San Francisco. They have two dogs - Carson and Cooper - and they are the most welcoming yet mellow dogs. My second favorite part of staying at the Parsonage was the included breakfast. We had Joan's souffle on Saturday, which was to die for, and John's famous family recipe for sourdough waffles with crispy bacon - a wonderful pair! The best part of our…

My husband and I stayed at The Parsonage for a week, and we could not have made a better choice. The historic home is beautiful, it’s an easy walk to numerous restaurants, and its location on the bus line is perfect for getting almost anywhere in the city. Hosts Joan and John were away during our stay, but their daughter Laura, her husband Matt, and their friend Tom attended to our every need and were generous with their time and suggestions. We stayed in the spacious Alice Lagan room, with its cozy bed and views of the city. The room was nicely refreshed each day. And the breakfasts were wonderful: fresh fruit and a different hot entrée every morning and bread from the famous Tartine bakery —served in the frescoed dining room, a perfect setting for enjoying our hosts and their…

This was our second stay at the Parsonage. Joan and John were great hosts. The breakfast were excellent. My daughter really enjoyed staying at The Parsonage and playing with the dogs. We had a lovely room, enough room for three people.

We stayed 5 nights in this beautiful old house with charming furnishings. Our host couple, Joan and John, are warm and welcoming. Bedroom was large, with comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. Full breakfast was delicious and featured a different creative dish each day.

We stayed here for 6 nights. Beautiful 3rd floor room with lots of natural light. The bathroom was exceptionally large with a nice shower. Mattresses extra comfy! There is an elevator, which was nice for the third floor! House is tastefully decorated with lovely antiques. The house was very clean. Only a short bus ride to Golden Gate Park, bus stop right across the street, which goes along Haight Street. Breakfasts were excellent, sourdough waffles! Yum! Our dog hosts, Carson and Cooper greeted us every day. They were quite welcoming. Our human hosts, Laura and Tom were friendly and helpful; gave us advice on things to see, restaurants, transportation, etc. I highly recommend the Parsonage.

One of the most restful , comfortable and charming houses in which we have ever stayed . This 135 year old house has unique furnishings and is a welcome contrast to the concrete tower blocks typical of chains of modern hotels. It is 8 minutes walk from the delightful Hayes village with its many small shops , bars and excellent restaurants and proximity to the San Francisco ballet and concert halls . The owners are most welcoming , interested in their guests and provide delicious breakfasts . Outstanding and memorable .

Great experience staying at the Parsonage B&B in San Francisco! Gracious hosts, Joan and John, welcomed me with helpful travel advice, an elegant room, and deliciously prepared breakfasts. A real ‘foodie’ treat with fresh fruit, yogurt, bread from a local French bakery, assorted fruit and ginger jams, and a varying menu of eggs cooked to order, omelets, French toast, etc. What a great way to start the day! Easy access to bus and trolley provide quick and access to downtown, which made this a convenient and fun option for conference lodging. Internet access, towel warmer, comfortable bed, quiet neighborhood with good restaurant options nearby. Unique feel of life in this vibrant city.

Just had to write to say we had the most fabulous stay at the Parsonage. Everything exceeded expectations and we really felt like we had come to stay at with friends or family rather than staying at a guest house. Joan and John (and Carson, the dog!) were so welcoming and helpful, our room and bed so comfortable, beautiful bathroom, and our breakfasts (main courses included souffle and John's sourdough waffles, there was delicious bread from Tartine every day, 3 course breakfasts!) so magnificent - our waistlines have definitely expanded! The house itself is incredible, beautifully renovated, immaculate, huge and full of art and books and all the things we love. So much better than staying in a hotel or air bnb. It is in a fantastic location, with lots of great restaurants and…
