The Metro Hotel had everything we needed - a comfortable bed and en suite bathroom. Perfect location, close to great restaurants, easy to venture out and explore San Francisco. The room was small and the shower was small but we weren't looking for a hotel to hang out in, just a place to rest and clean up before our next...

Thank you Michael, for your review. Our full rooms are very petite, as you perfectly described, they are for the type of guests who are looking for a comfortable bed to sleep in and a place to clean up before your next event. Thank you in advance for your return visit to The Metro Hotel we look forward to having...

I read all of the reviews here on TripAdvisor before choosing The Metro for a 3 night stay. So glad everyone offered their comments as my expectations were matched! The Metro is a delightful boutique hotel that blends into the neighborhood and makes you feel like a "local." As a 55+ female, traveling alone for a milestone birthday weekend with...

Thank you for the wonderful review and spending your special birthday in San Francisco at The Metro Hotel. The bed in room 101 is actually a queen but we love that you thought it was so big.

This is a gem of a place to stay. Nicely located with affordable prices. The bed was fantastic, very comfortable with a nice assortment of pillows to choose from. The front desk was great, helpful and friendly. I will definitely stay here again.

Clean nice hotell. We stayed at room 101 &201, they were spacious enough. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are nice restaurants and bars near by and it was easy to find buses to see other parts of the SF. Good value for money!

Hello Anne, Thank you for the review. It helps future guests and tripadvisor fans decide if our hotel is a good fit. Rooms 101 and 103 and 201 are all of our guest's favorites if they are working from the hotel room. Lots of light and a desk in the window makes for a pretty nice work space.

We arrived at the hotel in the late evening and Angela greeted us very kindly telling us where to go to have a nice dinner. The type of room we chose was the smallest but actually it was cosy and the perfect size if you want to spend just few nights. Every space/room was very clean. There are two main...

Thank you for your glowing review. The Metro Hotel staff is our biggest asset and reflect our hopes to make our guest feel like they have a home not an accommodation while staying with us.

I was impressed by this cute little motel as soon as I entered the lobby. Its small, but very nice and inviting. Gigi is extremely helpful and friendly and was excellent at accommodating my unique accommodation requests. I was not sure what to expect, but booked my stay based off the positive reviews I had seen. The rooms are unique...

Thank you Eric for your review. You words perfectly captured the feel of The Metro Hotel. We are disappointed there is no public parking lots in the area, the cost of adding parking would change our business goals. Affordability is very important to us as San Francisco continues to head toward NYC prices. We hope to have you and your...

A bit pricey for the standard and size of the rooms. Room was absolutely tiny. Hardly any space to move about, get dressed or even put our suitcases. Hotel looks a little tired... Staff friendly. That said the location was very good, and a great neighbourhood to be in.

Shana, Gigi & Angela at the front desk were all very welcoming and helpful during our stay. The upstairs rooms in which we stayed were clean and comfortable, albeit small. I suggest you consider the Metro Hotel if you're looking for good value for money with easy access to Hayes Valley, Castro and Mission districts.

We were greeted by the owner when we arrived. She was very friendly and had our room 207 ready early. Our room was on the third floor and we had to walk up the stairs as there is no elevator, faced the building next door and so we didn't have a view, but our price was amazing. Coffee at the...

Many thanks to your thoughtful review. We never want our guests to be surprised at our offerings for rooms. Your description for room 207 is perfect. If you ever do find you need a more space please try one of our Queen size rooms. Thank you again for the review and recommendation to future Metro Hotel guests.

We were welcomed and felt at home immediately. Everyone we dealt with went out of their way to help us find our way around SF. Our room was very clean and had a very comfortable bed and a great shower! We look forward to coming back again!

Staying in Haight-Ashbury

Neighbourhood Profile
The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops. While the Summer of Love ended decades ago, Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through its streets can still feel like stepping back in time. A must-see neighbourhood for most music fans, it’s easy to see why these streets attracted the likes of the Grateful Dead and Janis Joplin. You’ll likely be content in The Haight day or night, just be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
