San Francisco hotels seemed expensive, so we opted for a hostel for this leg of our travels (PCH and Yosemite). We stopped 4 nights, and considered checking out on the first night. We booked a private twin room. Super basic. Bunk beds. No TV. Rules about not eating in the room. Our "shared bathroom" was actually a communal toilets and...

This hostel is great for all ages, from teenagers to over 60. It was really chill and I loved the sitting room area with many sofas and a fire in the center. Although some people might want to stay downtown I found the location great as it was quiet, relaxed and had a fabulous view! The guy at the reception...

Thank you so much for this short and sweet review of the hostel! You have no idea how much it warms my heart to learn that you had such a stellar time while visiting our humble home by the Bay. I’d love to know which front desk associate helped you out so that I may send them your regards! Truly...

First thing, big Shout-out to Daniel for his excellent customer service. We arrived in S.F. at 6:45 am, Daniel got our reservation processed and our bags stored immediately, even though check-in isn't until 3:00 pm. We only had reservations for Thursday (due to lack of availability at time of booking for Friday), but my wife was going to be attending...

The location is great, really beautiful. A bit far from the center though, especially if you get the distances in the US wrong every time. The beds are not so good, memory foam, and really loud. Also the heater was making a lot of noise. The breakfast is typical American breakfast as you get everywhere. The showers and toilets are...

Thank you for your candid review of the hostel. I apologize that you did not really enjoy your time while visiting us. I would like to address the statement you made about us requesting that you throw used toilet paper in the green bin outside of the stall – this is simply not true. We only request that after washing...

Stayed back in October, for the first time in a hostel and in the USA we were very happy with the room and the location. Best part was the staff. Jasper was unreal doing anything possible to make our stay. Would be the first hostel I go back too.

The views are fabulous! The staff is so friendly and it's the most spacious hostel we've stayed in. They have a cafe that you can purchase a pint in or late night dinner. The fort is really awesome too; no taxes since on federal property!!

After staying in hi hostel Santa Monica, I was rather looking forward to this stay. It was a mistake of my own as I selected the cheapest room which equalled me to being not in the hostel.. in a side annex which holded about 20 beds if not more.. It would of cost me $3-4 dollars more to stay in...

Thank you for your review of the hostel! I am sorry that you didn’t have the best possible experience while staying here. Although you were sleeping in the building next door, hopefully you knew that you were totally able to spend as much time in the main building as you wanted. Regarding your safety in the co-ed dorm room, we...

First of all, this place constantly reeks of marijuana- I know it's legal in California now, but I don't want to smell like it or have my things smell like it. The breakfast is not the best- bagels, oatmeal, toast, bananas, apples, warm water and orange juice, coffee, tea- no attendant. Slept on a couch for one night b/c I...

Thank you for your honest review of the hostel. First and foremost, I want to let you know that we have a zero tolerance for drug abuse within our walls. I know during the time you were staying with us, a guest had been sprayed by a skunk outside and the main entrance and downstairs near the laundry room smelled...

Now don't expect fancy accommodations, because it's bunkbeds packed into small rooms with thin walls between the rooms. But do expect to have an awesome time. The place is so relaxed. The atmosphere is respectful, laid-back, and fun. There are two kitchens to make food, places to store cold and shelf food. A place to watch TV, a cafe, a...

Thank you for your kind and candid review of the hostel! How wonderful that you and your group enjoyed yourselves while visiting us here next to the Bay. This was a great hostel for our first visit to San Fran. The rooms are basic but we were able to get a dorm with 4 beds to ourselves. Breakfast is included and they have free activities most days like biking the bridge ( you need to pay for bike hire). The hostel is right near the piers and is...

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
