Short walk to buses and trams/cable cars and there are eateries and convenience stores in abundance. Also just along from the historical Geary Theater and numerous small boutique galleries if you love the arts. All the staff that we met were friendly and helpful. For the price you get a comfy room with ample storage space for cases and clothes.... More

I was in room 150 sharing with one friend; going to SF for an international conference. The room had two double beds but I would say for 4 people it'd be quite cramped. That said, the room was clean, and had enough for us to get by 5 nights' stay. Noises outside sometimes even at night. There is lack of... More

I stayed at this hotel during a conference in San Francsico, the location is ecellent and the rooms are really clean and confortable. Its a great deal for the price. Its a family run business and the hotel crew is readily to help in case something happens. I definitively will be back to Layne Hotel next time Im in San... More

This hotel is in a dodgy area of san francisco. Buzz to get in 24 hours a day. There checking-in system is prehistoric. There was a gentleman in front of us and by the time he was finished and then us it was at least 25mins! What we found absolutely absurd was a deposit of $250!!! He was quite insistent... More

I booked online the day before I was due to traveling. I originallly booked here as the conditions stated that if the hotel was cancelled we would only be charged one nights fee and seemed like the best option as my boyfriend had been sick before hand and I worried over wether to travel for not. Less than an hour... More

After travelling the states we decided to make a two night pit stop in San Francisco, after struggling to find accommodation at a reasonable price, we decided to splash out and stay in a hotel in the city. However this was a mistake, we came across the Layne hotel, it was advertised to be in a great location, with comfortable... More

The location is good in one way you walk to union square and many other places. But it's also only one block away from don't go area. The standard is really low but it at least seems fairly clean. It's really old and worn. But staff is friendly.

Located in a super ugly are. We have never ever been in a hotel like this. I have never worried about parking. Therefore, I did not check on the reservation that parking was not included. Parking next door cost $30 a day. As we got in, the staff at the front was very rude, then the elevator is very old... More

We were booked into the Layne and arrived a day late because we were tired and stayed at Big Sur. Completely unsafe neighbourhood. The place smelled terrible. The clerk on the desk was rude and wouldn't let us check in until 3pm despite us having paid for the day prior. He wouldn't even let us inspect the room. We left... More

Don't think I will ever stay at this place again. Torn towels in the bath room. Bad lighting. This place looks ancient in a bad way. Bad elevator. Torn window curtains. The neighborhood doesn't seem safe at night. No air conditioning. Don't go in just because the rental might be lower than most hotels. The price is definitely not worth this place.... More
