Great location near theaters, opera, ballet, museums. Rooms really a glorified hotel room with microwave, small refrigerator, no A/C. A glass of wine at their restaurant was $19, although the others were around $16. Staff friendly and accommodating.
Loved the location of this old place - within the hip area of Hayes Valley yet near enough to walk to downtown. Staff are warm and helpful and the rooms well-kept and maintained.
Comes with free breakfast and afternoon cookies.
Staying here now for a conference and am impressed with this hotel's cleanliness, service and staff. The worker at the desk who greeted me at 1am took care of my check-in and wifi complications very quickly and in a manner "above and beyond". The breakfast...More

Chock full of designer boutiques, art galleries, funky shoe stores, and great restaurants, it’s hard to imagine Hayes Valley once languished in the shadow of a major freeway. Its removal allowed for the creation of an attractive boulevard on Octavia Street with a community park at its center and dozens of trendy businesses to satisfy visitors looking for a stylish respite.
I'm sure they would let you pay for your guest's breakfast. It's based on honor system. People just go to breakfast from their rooms. I'm sure the hotel won't know how many people in your party since there is no checking... More
I'm sure they would let you pay for your guest's breakfast. It's based on honor system. People just go to breakfast from their rooms. I'm sure the hotel won't know how many people in your party since there is no checking at breakfast. That said, I would be honest and frank with the front desk and ask them about purchasing breakfast for a non-guest.
