I’m a fan of the Clancy, having stayed there 3 times just this month. The last visit was different however as was met with both rude staff and a disgusting room view. The picture will say it all - is this the view they want their guests to enjoy, especially from out of state or overseas? Really poor this time, Clancy. Expect better.
Chose The Clancy for a room after a SF Giants night game. It was a great choice. Quick walk to the stadium. Clean, nicely decorated room with a very comfortable mattress and nice bedding. Check in was easy and on line. The mobile key was a busy but luckily I had asked for a regular key as a back up. They have a great outside bar area for after-game hanging out. There were a lot of reviews complaining about the $75 parking charge but the price at a parking garage nearby was almost as much and meant that we didn’t have to schlep stuff.
The great customer service started when I approached the hotel. The valet was helping someone, but still managed to hit the door open button for me. I was then greeted by a smiling, welcoming and professional front desk team. Swiftly checked me in and gave me my exact room preference. The room was well designed and handsomely decorated. Everything worked as expected. Spotlessly clean. USB and electrical plugs everywhere! And, even a comfortable sofa that folds out. Beautiful view of the Bay from my room. I would highly recommend this hotel and I'll definitely be back!
This is a funky hotel. The rooms are nice and roomy. The lobby is nice. There is a bar / restaurant and outside fire pit. I’m not sure why they close around 10 pm. There are no restaurants located close to the hotel and open late. There is no safe public parking near the hotel. They charge an insane amount of money to park. The location is not the best (not a close walk to the marina etc). 7.8/10
I'd say this is more like 3.5 stars. Stayed here from 8/5-8/10 and was very impressed with the level of service from the front desk to coffee shop to bar/restaurant, everyone was very friendly and helpful. The lobby is nicely decorated as well and there is a cool patio with a fire pit. My main issues were with the area in which the hotel is located - quite possibly one of the most boring sections of SF, you will need to either walk several blocks or take an Uber to anything of interest; I really don't understand the reviews saying there are "tons" of restaurants and bars nearby (where??). If quiet is your thing, then this is your hotel. Also the room itself looked on the tacky side - black carpet, black desk/console, cheap IKEA light fixtures and the bathroom sink area is postage-stamp sized. Shower is roomy though. In-room Nespresso machine and mini fridge are a nice touch. Beds seemed small despite being listed as a queen. Prices are insane at the restaurant and coffee shop but this is to be expected. I'll probably try to find a hotel in a more happening spot of SF on my next visit.…
I had never stayed here before so I didn’t know what to expect . I could not have been happier with this choice. Spotlessly clean hotel , cool atmosphere in the public areas , comfortable room and every staff member I encountered was friendly and helpful . Neighborhood is clean and nice as well . Walking distance to oracle park ( which is why I chose it ) but also a reasonable walk to Chinatown North Beach and Union Square . I will definitely stay here again
The hotel is very nice, the location was great and the staff friendly. I had some issues with the room cleanness and housekeeping like forgetting to take the garbage out, refilling coffee. I also didn’t like that for everything requested they asked for a fee, like extending checkout for 1 hr or getting the room earlier (and the hotel wasn’t full). Besides this everything was fine.
Long over-due reviews. Stayed during Dec holiday 2021; when pandemic still exists. Feel so safe in this hotel! Booked 2 rooms for family 5pax. Rooms are spacious, bright, beds are comfortable. Reception desk are polite, patient and informative. There is a outdoor fire place to chill and nice drinks. There is small cafe within hotel; provides take & go bfast.
I stayed for a week in November 2021. I loved this hotel. It’s modern, beautiful, clean and the restaurant is delicious. Our bedroom was spacious with a seating area. It’s also well located, even though there’s not a lot of restaurants in walking distance. Otherwise, it’s a fantastic hotel.
The location was great and centrally located. The rooms were relatively clean. The housekeeping staff are very friendly and take the time to greet and chat in the hallways. The hotel itself is nicely decorated. However I can’t stand all these penny pinching policies. All other marriotts provide complimentary water but this one will charges $9. There are fees to make local calls. A microwave is $15. I asked for a 2hr late check out and was told it would be $30! The executives should really review all these little fees and realize how embarrassing it is. I hope the extra couple dollars in revenue is worth the negative guest experience. I would expect this from a budget property not a supposed 4* hotel. It really left a bad taste in an otherwise great stay.
