I was at the columbus last december with my family and it was a very nice stay. Mr Oscar was always helpful on the front desk, giving us good tips about transportations and, specially, places to eat, all near and very good. This is a simple hotel, small, without the foolish things that make others expensive, at least in my...

This place was great for our purposes. San Francisco has very upscale, historical, beautiful hotels...this is not one of those. BUT, it is a really great value. The room is clean and large. The beds are comfy. We had a view of Coit Tower, the Transamerica building and the Cathedral and Bimbo's (next door) was not a noise problem at...

Stayed at the Columbus Motor Inn for one night after going to a SF Giants game at ATT park. Arrived early at 10:00 and our room was available so we checked in, left our car in the covered parking lot and took the bus which stopped in front of the motel to ATT ballpark. Staff was very friendly and helpful....

If you are thinking of doing attractions in the San Fran area such as Golden Gate Bridge, and or Alcatraz, this inn was in good walking distance of these attractions. The best part about this inn was parking was free! The rooms were in good conditions, spacious and there was a small dining table. I found the inn to be...

We stayed on the third floor in the two bedroom suite with a step-out balcony facing Columbus Avenue for 2 nights beginning on July 3rd. Then we moved to the back side of the hotel to another suite on the second floor only because I added a 3rd night and my original room was already booked. If you are a...

The receptionists were patient, kind and helpful. They offered suggestions and direction help to get the library, MUNI and cable car services. The hotel is in a great location for short walks to shopping, cable cars, wharf attractions and grocery stores-Safeway & Trader Joes. The rooms were basic, but had the necessary amentities-tv, comfy bed, tub & shower & small...

Great hotel, lovely spacious rooms with balconies, great service and more importantly a fantastic location in San Francisco. It's minutes walk from the Wharf and right on Columbus which is full of great bars and restaurants. Be sure to visit Trader Joe's just 2 blocks away and the cable car!

Our first room smelled like deodorizer covering cigarette smoke, so we asked to see another room. The third room we saw did not smell bad. The decor was tired, the mattresses were hard, and the shower head was like a fire hose. The view (room 301) was lovely and the staff did their best to help us when we were...

Staying in Russian Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Russian Hill
Russian Hill has evolved into a chic residential neighborhood with outstanding views from every corner. Combined with several great cafes, restaurants, antique shops and boutiques, it’s easy to see why any visitor would gladly leave their heart in San Francisco. Cars line up day after day to drive down Lombard Street, the “crookedest” street in the world, and make the slow creep downhill past charming period homes. Polk Street is the main drag in this neighborhood, where you will find trendy bars, cafes and shops populated with locals, but for one of the most charming rides in the city, grab a cable car heading up and down Hyde Street.
