The Chelsea Motor Inn is in a location with plenty of resturants and bars, there was plenty of buses that took you to pier 39 and all the other main attractions. The motel itself is basic but clean and tidy with the facilities that you need and would expect in a motel. Parking in San Fransisico can be expensive therefore...

Set in an area of bars and restaurants on Lombard Street, it is a good base to investigate San fransisco. Set back from the marina area, it is away from the busier areas close to the piers. Definitely value for money as a place to stay.

We chose this motel because they offer free parking. We stayed here one night before a cruise and had a great stay. Everything, from check in to check out was fast and easy. The desk staff was very happy to answer questions and give directions. The Mels Diner down the street is a great place for breakfast. We will stay...

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Muhammed our first trip to San Francisco was off to a great start. Our luggage was stored until check-in, knowledgeable and friendly advice was provided about the way to best see San Fran, excellent suggestions of where to eat nearby. Home Plate provided great breakfast. We had a room on the...

This was not "street noise," it was the POST OFFICE next door!!! Every morning at about 4:23 AM, it was what sounded like a 1-hr "trash day" - complete with beeping, SLAMMING, ramps being taken in/out of trucks, gaffawing, shouting - all within approx. 45 ft of our windows. Yes, the windows were closed, and unfortunately the A/C/fan in our...

Location was great for public transport into Pier area, and only a $10 taxi ride if you prefer the convenience. The front desk were helpful and pleasant, local knowledge on bus routes and dining was useful. Lots of places to eat close by, excellent breakfast at Home Plate only 5 minutes away. We had a corner room with 2 Queen...

We enjoyed our stay at the Chelsea. We choose this hotel because of the free parking and it was located near some of the attractions we had planned. The area seems safe and the hotel seemed secure. I can see that it would be quite noisy on the weekends.

This hotel is in a prime location and really nice for the price. The bed was awesome. The tvs need to be updated badly. They had their own parking garage and did not charge additional as most hotels in San Francisco do. It is pretty much within walking distance to most attractions and the bus stopped right outside the hotel.

When visiting San Francisco recently we were looking for a reasonable place to stay. We wanted something somewhat close to the attractions, and parking. A friend recommended this hotel. In any big city you go to, the hotel rates are very pricey, San Francisco included. And most of the hotels include an additional parking fee. The fees can range from...

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
