Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We prededed our trip that focused on the US Open at Pebble Beach with a four night stay at My Rose Garden Guest rooms. The quiet neighbourhood location and spacious accommodation of the Green room with a very comfortable bed , ensuite and a thoughtfully prepared breakfast were all features we enjoyed. Our Hostess was very personable and her friendliness added to the enjoyment of our stay in San Francisco. We were very busy and did not really have time to linger in the common areas of the house but we certainly took advantage of the proximity to Baker Beach, and the Cliff House as well as excellent public transit connections.

Used the quest room as part of a San Francisco biking adventure. The Hostess was gracious and sincere, the breakfast was well prepared and tasty. We had the yellow room, which was lovely, but up two flights of stairs, so be forwarded. Most of the room are only up one flight. Would stay again.

We have stayed here many times while visiting our son who lives in a small condo. Kathleen is a very gracious host and serves a delicious breakfast. We prefer the "Green Room" with a private bath, but the other rooms are nice too if you don't mind a bath down the hall.

Myself, my husband and my sister visiting from the UK stayed here for three nights at the end of Sept, 18-21 to be exact. I read great reviews on yelp, bedandbreakfast.com and other sites about the bed and breakfast and I had been in communication with Kathleen for the weeks prior to our arrival.I made the reservation for three adults in the yellow room, understanding that we would all be in the same room, as rates in the city were so expensive, I booked the Bed and breakfast at $199 plus tax per night, it included breakfast so that was a perk. Kathleen was very helpful and responsive via email and she assured me that she would have the sofa bed made up for my sister upon our arrival and that she would have supplies in the room for three people. (Towels, toiletries etc..) When we arrived to the bed and breakfast there was a card on the door with our code to the front door and directions to our room and a note from Kathleen to let us know that she would be back at the bed and breakfast after 7:30 pm. Upon entering the house we were greeted with an old musty smell. When we entered our room at the top of the stairs we saw that the sofa bed was not made up for my sister and that there was one bar of soap for three people…. I decided to pull out the sofa bed and make it up myself, the sofa bed was broken and we had to try and connect the springs to hold the end of the bed together, now to find the sheets for the bed. I opened a closet in the room and found a green sleeping bag, some pillows and a throw. The throw and pillows had blood stains on them and there were no pillowcases to cover the blood stained pillows. There are also no keys to lock your room when you leave. You have to leave your belongings in the room and trust that no one else will walk into your room. I was so grossed out and irritated with this I emailed Kathleen and asked could she stop by with some clean sheets as the bed was not made up. We left for dinner and while we were out I saw that Kathleen had emailed me and said she would stop by with sheets and make up the bed, which she did. The next day we left early and when we returned our beds were not made up and there were no clean towels just our used wet towels hanging in the bathroom. The trash was still full and there was still just that one bar of soap. (Just as well we bought our own toiletries while we were out) That same evening while we were in our room we had a visitor from a stranger that just walked into our room. This was the final straw for me, I emailed Kathleen again to ask her about the towels, trash, beds and to get a key for our room as a stranger just walked into ours. She later emailed me said she would stop by when she came home. She stopped by and seemed very put out that she had to address the problems I brought up in my email. When I asked her about the room being serviced she said “that’s not what we do here” ??????? When I asked about new towels she said “ we are having a drought and we don’t wash the towels during your stay, we can tumble dry them for you if you like” ?????????? Lastly when I asked about the Wi-Fi not working and if we could get some extra bathroom tissue she said “ are you serious, I made up this room myself you should have plenty” she told us that the Wi-Fi was changed and she forgot to mention it. (That one I can see past, but it would have been nice to have been told before we reserved at $199 plus tax per night that our room would not be serviced and we would not get fresh towels or toiletries, as “That’s not what they do there” Overall I would avoid staying at this property again, I still can’t figure out what I paid for…perhaps the slushy quiche that was served for breakfast?? Save your money and sanity and stay elsewhere. Had it been communicated to me that there was such a drought in San Francisco that I couldn’t get a fresh towel and that toiletries were rationed out I would have NOT booked at this property. We later drove to Sonoma where there seemed to be no shortage of fresh towels or toiletries in the hotel we stayed in, perhaps they can show Kathleen at My Rosegarden how it’s done.
