Staying right in the heart of San Francisco was our objective, but we were a little shocked at how expensive it can be. The Chancellor wasn't our first choice, but it turned out to be a great one. The location couldn't be better. Staff were welcoming and keen to assist, the rooms were well maintained and the bath was a...

My wife and I spent 5 very enjoyable nights at the chancellor as part of our honeymoon in December. Can't say enough good things about the hotel, its location and its staff. The staff were very helpful and responded to all requests for assistance promptly. The location is brilliant (in close proximity to shops and restaurants) and our room had...

Good 3* hotel for business. clean rooms, comfy bed and linens, good location for union sq location. Free tea/coffee (including earl grey) and cookies and apples in lobby. Very nice to be able to open windows though on street side can be quite noisy on lower floors esp fri/sat though it didn't stop me sleeping. Free wifi through out with...

The location was the main factor in our choice of this hotel. In addition to the location, the Chancellor Hotel was comfortable and clean, although a bit dated. The staff was particularly welcoming, especially the concierge. There is a parking garage a few steps from the hotel, as well as a Starbucks and a convience store. Overall, a pleasant stay!

Absolutely perfect for this price range. A couple of minutes walk from Powell St statio, in the heart of Union Sq. Super comfy bed with fantastic linens and pillows. As others have commented, yes rooms are small but they're well appointed. Nice desk, chairs with loads of power points and usb charging points. Frig in room. Bar prices very good...

Love the location of this hotel. Perfect friendly boutique hotel in the middle of huge corporations and all the activity you could desire. Small rooms, but plenty of amenities to give you everything you really need while enjoying the city. I only wish we would of slowed down one more evening to really enjoy the small lounge. Stayed here on...

Can't beat the location! Bed was amazing and amenities were modern. Hotel maintains historical charm but with modern upgrades. The staff were very helpful. Public parking garage is very convenient. Loved the history and family feel of the hotel. Rooms are smaller, but just the right size in my opinion and to be expected from when the hotel was built.

I chose The Chancellor for its proximity to my family's apartment in Union Square when we had an overflow of relatives visiting during Christmas week. What a terrific find this hotel was! After the quick check-in, we found ourselves inside our second floor room. It was very clean, cozy, quiet, and good sized (considering the area). The bed was so...

Just what we were looking for in a great area part of town. The staff was super friendly, they went out of their way to make our trip special. The hotel was clean and beautiful. Loved having flavored water, coffee and cookies available in lobby at all times. Edith was an excellent concierge, bartender made great drinks and housekeeping staff...
