They had a major renovation earlier in 2014. Renovation is beautiful! Rooms are up to date but the hotel has kept it's vintage charm. The rooms are much larger than the standard San Francisco room. I was amazed at how quiet the rooms were. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly and because it is a smaller hotel, they recognize... More

We stayed here for our first trip to San Francisco and will be back soon! From the doorman greeting you to the front desk, the bartender and the concierge, we truly loved this historic hotel. The bar was a great classy place to unwind at the end of the day sightseeing. Our room was ample sized but had the charm... More

Having stayed at the Huntington for more than 20 years I was skeptical about the renovation as the fear was that yet another grand boutique hotel has been turned into a black lacquered, dark plastic, dreary, ultra modern European style monster. Definitely not the case with the Huntington. The designers have modernized without achieving the soullessness all to commonly encountered.... More

I have mixed feelings about this property, but the good generally outweighs the negative. I've written elsewhere that San Francisco, for being such a landmark city, is really lacking in terms of great hotel options in comparison with say NYC, LA or Chicago. I suppose the smallness of SF has something to do with this, but I really don't love... More

A long weekend getaway with my sister and this was perfect for us. Comfortable beds, clean, and spacious. It is at the top of Nob Hill and my sister and I like to walk when we travel -- our legs got a nice workout. One day, we were too tired to even think about walking back up the hill so... More

Dear Bella0302, Thank you so much for your kind remarks and recommendation. I'm glad to hear you and your sister enjoyed walking around Nob Hill and the surrounding areas. The hills in SF can seem bothersome, -that is- until you crest Nob Hill on Powell Street (half a block from our hotel). Suddenly the city falls away, and the resplendent... More

I stayed here for three nights and enjoyed the amazing service in particular! My room was on the top floor and was very comfortable, as well as having a lovely view of the adjacent park area. I would definitely recommend staying here. Close to the city and a few local restaurants if you don;t feel like hotel food!

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the San Francisco Huntington. This was for a business conference and was actually the only hotel with rooms available. Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Designed to spark the imagination and provide an adventure for the senses, the much beloved and newly renovated Huntington Hotel re-emerges in May 2014 from a $15 million renovation as The Scarlet Huntington. The Scarlet Huntington builds upon the property's original charm, graciousness and exceptionally high standards while introducing locals and visitors to a unique and avant-garde style that is influenced by a vibrant Singapore Peranakan heritage woven together with the opulence of San Francisco. More than just a name, The Scarlet possesses a distinguished charm and charismatic aura, likened to a gracious hostess who indulges guests with a luxurious stay experience.
