I was setup at this hotel by the company and I do not think I can provide a reason to complaint. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel itself is old, but luxurious. The elevators look old-fashioned, but are pretty modern. The best part is that you can walk down to the financial district from the hotel, so enjoy... More

Nice old style hotel. Rooms are ok but could do with modernizing. Housekeeping not the best despite multiple requests for additional tea and coffee. There is a nice coffee shop nearby that is easy to access and many visitors were getting coffee and muffins from there. Top of the Mark has great views and had great service.

I had previously raved about this hotel and wonderful weekend, but realized only few of my photos appeared in my review, so here are my room photos. Best weekend treat! Many thanks to Dave at The Mark Hopkins Intercontinental for making my birthday so special!

It's a heritage luxury hotel in the heart of the city. Very conveniently located close to all the major attractions. We would highly recommend taking a room on a higher floor as the city views are spectacular. The team is super helpful specially the concierge. They helped us plan all our trips in and out of SF. The breakfast spread... More

We loved the location of the hotel. We were on a low floor, but still had sufficient views and sunlight. The hotel is old, so the plumbing is loud, but we had no real problems. Rooms are old style, but without being too stale and musty smelling, beds were comfortable and aan ample and generous size. Staff were courteous and... More

If you appreciate quiet rooms, reliable service, and old-school hospitality Mark Hopkins should be your go-to San Francisco hotel. The Mark Hopkins offers excellent service, super comfortable beds, a safe and beautiful central location in the city with easy access to two cable car lines, seasoned bell staff to attend to your luggage, two dining options (including the famous rooftop... This classic SF hotel remains a favorite. The service at the front desk and bell staff is excellent. The higher your room the better to view. A visit to the Top of the Mark is the highlight of any stay. Suggest getting there early for a good window table (opens at 4:30PM).

Check in & out was smooth. The concierge was wonderful when my husband realised he'd left a bag back at the airport (sorry we didn't get your name), very helpful. The hotel had been recommended to us by a valued business associate/friend, whilst he did say it was a historic hotel with an old style romantic presence at the top... More

Great historic building in an excellent location but the staff and room are neglected. Beautiful views from the lounge; Top of the Mark, but again you expect better service. Overrated concierge who seem uncaring. The rooms need a little attention, mine smelled funny and the shower curtain was torn. Breakfast selection is scarce and limited. A "cold" hotel.

I really loved this hotel. Sure, i dont mind walking up near vertical hills to get back to my bed (they are steep) but even then, with the tram so handy... and the views so good.... ill be back. Beware that hitting the Top Of The Mark for a cocktail is tricky unless you are there at 4pm... but it... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
