A fine hotel, very good views from the hotel room. Staff were friendly and efficient. However, it's right atop a pretty serious hill. I enjoyed the walk up and down several times a day; but if you're not a serious exercise buff, be prepared to take the bus, tram or taxi. HINT: The bus runs about a block north of... More

I stayed here for one night prior to a conference. The top of the Mark had beautiful views but was a bit pricy. The rooms were a bit outdated but the bathrooms were AWESOME. A nice bathroom is important to me and this one had a big beautiful bathtub, nice shower as well as a vanity spot for make-up. It... More

My wife and I stayed here last week because our son found us a very good group rate. Without that rate, we would have stayed at one of our favorite Joie de Vivre properties in the city. The Mark Hopkins is one of the great hotels of San Francisco and we had a great experience. Our two-night stay started with... More

I stayed 3 days 2 nights at this hotel. The room is old but neat and tidy, and it has a decent view of the city. Apart from that, the stay doesn't comes with breakfast, which is expensive. You can just leave the hotel and walk into any cafe that provide value for money breakfast. The service provided by the staff... More

My girlfriend gave me a trip to San Francisco to see The NutCracker for Christmas. A town car drove us from the airport to the hotel, driving up to the motor court with the view of the Mark Hopkins glazing the skyline of San Francisco was fantastic. The door men ushered us into the lobby were a giant Christmas tree... More

Myself, my husband and my 15 year old son stayed here for a few days in May 2013. The location was perfect for us. We have stayed at other Intercontinental hotels, but this is one of the best. The property is beautiful and the service perfect. The club was excellent for tea in the afternoon and just relaxing after walking... More

Nice hotel and would happily stay again. It's in a great location with amazing views from the bar at the top of the hotel (a MUST see!) This hotel is of a good standard with friendly staff and a strong approach to service. It looks ever so slightly tired is some parts - still grand just a little 'ageing' around... More

Intercontinental is the type of Hotel chain that never disappoints, but this property is very special. it is this beautiful mid 60's building with large and comfortable rooms. They are across from the Fairmont San Francisco and walking distance from the Embarcadero. If you are there on business, it is 5 minutes from most corporate buildings.

We stayed in this hotel in room 402 after a long flight prior to our cruise and I just couldn’t sleep because of the outside noise. Traffic, pedestrians etc. The room was also extremely small. When we returned 10 days later for a three-night stay I mentioned our problems to the desk staff and they couldn’t have been more apologetic... More

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
