Wow - what a great place. It's a pity about the daily climb to get back to it though. We stayed 3 nights and I dreaded the walk back up the hill each day. With an hour and half wait for the cable cars, it was a necessity. Great views from the Top of the Mark. We only went for...

Other than the valet/doormen, we were somewhat disappointed by our second stay at the Mark Hopkins. They let us leave our car in front of the hotel for about 30 minutes while we checked in and put our bags in the room. Upon check in, the desk clerk indicated we had received an upgrade. When we got to the room,...

Had a 3 nights stay on a business trip to San Fco, and the experience was fantastic. At check In I was upgraded to a suite on the 11th floor, with great view, lots of space, big bed, sofa, round table, and of course very clean. Immaculate clean every day. The building is old, but with a lot of charme...

Stayed for 3 nights at the Mark Hopkins on our first visit to San Fran. Hotel itself was great, really nice rooms, spacious and very comfortable with good gym facility which was nice to use. Service at the hotel was up and down depending on who you encountered. On arrival desk was very friendly but on other times very cold...

First time staying at the Mark Hopkins in San Francisco. Its located on California street, near enough on the summit of Nob Hill. The hotel from the exterior looks wonderful in relation to its architecture. Check in was quick and the staff were polite. Explaining to me the club features, the complimentary internet and the location of the fitness centre...

It has always been my opinion (and I turned 70 on June 30th), after 53 years of travel that the employees reflect the management. Here you will be greeted by Doormen and Bellmen who know their job, but most importantly, treat each guest as a privileged visitor. I would highly recommend the lounge, staffed by Ana, David and Joanna, a...

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
