Third stay at this hotel. Only downside was the attitude of the duty manager at check in. After 22 hours of travelling the hotel did not have our guaranteed room available. Manager totally rude and unhelpful he should take a lesson in customer service from the staff in the club lounge, they were fantastic !! Room lovely and clean and...

We are locals, and stayed at the Mark Hopkins for two nights in connection with a business function. I booked us here to avoid yet another disaster at the Fairmont across the street. This is a difficult review for me to write because, although there is much to recommend this hotel, important basics are lacking. I loved, and expect, the...

Dear AnjVW, Thank you for your review and for enumerating the good, the bad and the opportunities to improve. I appreciate the kind words about our property, superb staff, luxurious amenities and facilities. Whilst I am pleased with the good comments, I truly value the negative comments as this gives us the opportunity of improving what we can offer. I...

This hotel, which I remember from years ago as an elegant, upscale hostelry is now just another fancy Holiday Inn. It is noisy and crowded. Guests are dressed sloppily and behave boorishly. The legendary Top of the Mark still has a spectacular view, but the menu is ordinary and there is nothing special about the service or the general atmosphere....

This is one of the best hotels we've stayed in. First timers in San Fran, so we were dependent on the concierge and front desk services for their directions and suggestions. They were vary helpful. All of the staff was so nice, with such genuine caring attitude. Everything in our room was great, the bed was realy comfortable. We ordered...

Stayed here for just one night. This hotel is on top of Nob Hill. It is old and is in need of some upgrading and remodeling. The elevators are very small and made me feel claustrophobic. Some of the staff at the front desk are not very friendly. We checked in at around 7pm, and I wanted to speak with...

We were in town for a family wedding and this was one of the hotels on the list. We had a gorgeous one bedroom with a nice view of the city. We did the Club room and loved it. Wonderful appetizers and drinks in the evening and a lovely continental type breakfast. It was so nice knowing you could go...

I stay frequently in this hotel. Rooms are average American old hotel rooms. This means they are not very well functional, for example my room did not have drawers for clothes. Also hotel room did not have coffee maker, which is strange. So you are up for some inconvenience in this as well as in almost any old hotel. Also...

We stayed here for a few nights on our recent trip to San Francisco. It is a beautiful hotel, the room and bed were extremely comfortable, and the service was great. The location is also perfect- in a quieter area but very close to both downtown and other neighborhoods with bars and restaurants. Great base from which to explore the...

Stayed at this Intercontinental as the other one located in the financial district was soldout. I've stayed in few other Intercontinentals and this particular one on Nob hill is a bit older and smaller. But, service and cleanliness is as expected for a d star hotel.

Great hotel in a great location. However, food service is very limited, so be prepared to venture out for dining. Also, guests in lower rooms had street noise to contend with at night. Check out is not automated and can be a slow process if your are part of a group tour or cruise.

Staying in Nob Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Nob Hill
Swanky and stylish, Nob Hill sits in the heart of the city and is home to amazing architecture and views. The hike to the top can be a challenging workout for those who forego a cable car ride, but they will be rewarded with some of the city’s most beautiful architecture adorning its peak. Originally populated with mansions after the Gold Rush, most if not all were devastated in the 1906 earthquake and fire that followed. Luckily all is not lost; storied hotels and Grace Cathedral surround Huntington Park. Having a drink or dinner while taking in the sunset and views at the "top of the Mark" is tough to beat.
