No one would deny this is a beautiful hotel and the staff is friendly. The execution, however, leaves something to be desired. For instance, there was no place to hang hand towels in the bathroom. The maid service was poor, leaving used glasses and paper cups around the room. And $50+ a night for parking seems excessive. With so many...

Stayed here for 1 night and enjoyed it very much. Room is good size, very clean and well designed. I also used the pool and the gym, which could get crowded in the morning. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of food. Overall great experience!

The impressive garden court gives the tune: you are in a palace, like in the old days. It can be a discrepancy while in San Francisco, near to the SFMOMA or the Jewish museum, but it is so comfortable! I had a special rate so I was not on the premium experience. Nevertheless the room was really nice and cosy,...

I'm glad you felt the essence of The Palace Hotel as soon as you entered into the Lobby! We made it a point to maintain the vintage décor while incorporating modern accents throughout the hotel. Thank you for noticing and sharing those compliments. I apologize there were times the team fell short in assisting you. I will be sure to...

Spent 4 days here with family in July. Beautiful hotel. Rooms were great. S Bruce excellent. Very accommodating as we needed 2 rooms and they weren't able to get adjoining on first night, but moved us the next day. Lobby and buffet excellent. (Ours was comped, so not sure how expensive it was). Hotel bar was great for dinner. Pool...

Great location, beautiful and grand classy hotel. Lobby area is enormous and breathtaking. Upgraded to suite overlooking the intersection. Beautiful accommodations with a bed like a cloud. If you have the chance, well worth it, especially after a long day of sightseeing, shopping, and eathing.

Just checked into the Palace Hotel, went to dinner, returned and to my surprise no water in the room...apparently the entire hotel is without water until 4 AM, are you kidding me? Cannot wash my face, go to the bathroom, etc...totally unacceptable!!! Asked management how they would make reparations and the response is we can give you points, really??? For...

Stayed here for 4 nights on a business trip and really enjoyed it. The stay was very comfortable and the hotel itself is beautiful. The marbled lobby is gorgeous. The gym was decent and the swimming pool was quite nice. The location was very good for me as it was walking distance to my office and food/shopping. One of the...

This hotel was in a good location close to union square and a short walk down to Westfield shopping center. The hotel check in was fast and pleasant and the rooms were of a good standard. The pool and gym area were also good. I found the dining area to be a spectacular room, however, the food was very expensive...

An old beautiful building redone and reminds one of the grand old hotels of Europe. Marbled high ceiling lobby area is gorgeous and a great place to have a drink before going out. They also have a separate side bar with an old large wall American painting. Problem is the hotel is on a very busy noisy street and is...

I brought my three kids, ages 7, 7 and 9, to the Palace for a weekend in San Francisco. They loved how "fancy" it was, their rooms and everything about the hotel, including the indoor pool. Debbie Lew, the concierge, treated them like little princes and princesses, and helped us out with meals and planning. We had an awesome time!

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
SoMa
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
