My first time. It was perfect. Usually stay at one of the Westins, Ritz, Meridien or Four Seasons, but I actually think that I will stay at Inn when I can in the future. The entire city was sold out downtown for a conference, so I was scrambling to find a place to stay. I loved the location and it...

Our 2nd time staying at the Inn on Castro. Most recently summer of 2014. We were greeted by Melanie at check-in: pleasant, professional, polite, friendly, and so very helpful in orientating us to the Castro "lay of the land." We stayed in the Yellow room - very pleasant decor, with complimentary wi-fi - yay! (I love it when 'basic' services are...

I lived in SF for 4 years, 2 of which I lived across the street from The Inn on Castro. My family would always stay here when they came to visit. I have since moved out of the city to Chicago, and so when I came back for work I knew I wanted to stay here and not in a...

Staying in The Castro was a deliberate move to avoid downtown hotels and the hellishness of Fisherman's Wharf. We loved the location of the Inn on Castro, and everything that was on our doorstep. Shops, restaurants, sights, all so accessible from the area. The inn itself is great, full of San Fran character and life. Our room was clean, really...

I really love The Inn on Castro. From the first time I stayed here a few years ago, I knew it woud be my "go to" place to stay. Jan, the owner, is just a charm and makes my stay so personable. Breakfast with other travelers from all over is my favorite part. I've made some new friends!

This is the second time I had the pleasure of staying at the Inn on Castro. My room had a private bath and a small sunroom that gave us extra space and overlooked a patio garden. As usual, the room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast was a culinary treat. Jan is a wonderful cook, making everything fresh for breakfast....

What a fantastic little find - so often people go for the chain hotels as you know what you are going to get but this place feels like home. The room I had was quite large, I had a full sized bed, bathroom and a sunroom overlooking the patio garden. Jan is a fantastic host and also an amazing cook...

The Inn on Castro is a best-in-class representative of all that is San Francisco. If you are looking for an urbane host, old world courtesy combined with new world comfort, a zesty neighborhood and a marvelous breakfast to share with an eclectic collection of table mates you have found it. Excellent public transportation to anywhere. I've been visiting the city...

My sister-in-law found this lovely inn for me about 3 days before my arrival. The Inn at Castro's location is ideal -this is the safest neighborhood in SF. Also, there are many eateries and shops nearby. The rainbow flag is visible from the front window, and a spectacular view of the city including mission Delores is visible from the back...

Staying in The Castro

Neighbourhood Profile
The Castro
A flourishing commercial area that acts as San Francisco's LGBT community center and cultural heart, the Castro is a neighbourhood welcome to everyone. As one of the first predominantly LGBT neighbourhoods in the United States and currently its largest, it remains one of the epicenters of activism in the nation. Grand theatres and glitzy shops now compete with bars and fashionable eateries for attention, drawing visitors from around the world to the bright rainbow flag acting as its beacon.
